    Wednesday 8/15

Lazy morning. I let the kids sleep in. Kenzie finished packing and I took her to the airport. We met a volunteer there from New Life for Paws and gave her a few bags of dog & puppy food we picked up at Price Smart. We got Mackenzie checked in and found that I was not allowed to go to the gate with her like we thought. Of course her father got it all wrong. Whatever. So we walked around the airport a bit, got a Cinnabon & coffee and sat in the red chairs outside for a little more chatting. Such precious time

The Delta escort took her away and I headed over to Arrival hall to wait for Brianna Brianna's flight was perfectly on time. She got thru customs, got her luggage, hit duty free and was out within about 15 minutes!! Wooohooo!

Drove through town since she had just arrived, even though there were 2 big cruise ships in and one little one. It was super busy with traffic and tons of people walking in the street but we didn't care. Thankful to have my girl here and thankful to watch her face loving the sites and the color of the water and feeling at home

Got to La Cabana and my mom jumped on the dinner idea. Wanted to know where Brianna wanted to go. She basically said she didn't want to go out anywhere and was really looking forward to getting a bathing suit on and hitting Pata Pata for happy hour. She just worked 4 days in a row to be able to get here and wanted to relax.

Well, what a liquid dinner we had! Wow! Many of the people we've met and hung out with each year are leaving today so the drinks were flowing and everyone was buying rounds and enjoying their last happy hour!

Mackenzie texted when she landed safe & sound and she asked if she could come back next year! <3

We came back to the room and threw some tacos together and played Pokeno and called it a night! So happy to have all my babies here and can't wait for the rest of the family to get here on Friday!

    pokeno is like bingo/poker
we play with 5 cups (pots)
winning is a horizontal or vertical line, 4 corners, postage stamp (all like bingo) and poker hands...4 of kind, flush, royal etc...
it gets costly with pennies, I have no idea how much I would lose if I played for quarters.
when we play pokeno, we each bring 2 lbs worth of pennies.
sometimes I go home with only a handful and sometimes I go home with 6 or 8 lbs.

and farkle is hard to explain

    sorry about the thread hijacking

now back on to Jacki's story

It's all good - no hijacking! Our story is all about games & family time

We Pokeno with only 3 pots, so a 75 cent anti - Pokeno, 4 corners & center. Some games the center pot is not won, many games the 4 corners is not won and the money just rolls to the next game.

    Thursday 8/16

I can't believe we've been here more than a week already! Time flies! I'm SO not ready to be halfway done with this trip!!

Got up early of course, got dressed and went to the beach. Palapa 87 has been perfect for us. They put a blue rubber mat down from the entrance to the beach and it's about 15 ft long or so. Mom has been using her walker and that mat has been awesome! Palapa 87 is one more closer to the water from where that ends and one row back from Julio. She's been walking from there to the ocean with a helper on each side and has done really well! So that is where I plopped down my stuff and set up chairs then went walking on the beach and playing with the only beach dog I've seen in the mornings.

Went to the gym to meet the kids at 9. It is the best motivation in the world to watch them play racquetball from my Elliptical! Michael went down to the ground at one point and then Rich immediately followed. Oh no - I'm thinking the ball hit Mike then hit Rich too - NOPE - my husband was on the floor laughing hysterically at our son because he got hit in the head & his glasses flew off like a cartoon! Obviously the kid was fine and not actually hurt.

Met my parents at the Islander for breakfast then they went to the beach and we went up to the room for bathing suits and met them on the beach.

Same boring evening. Bingo & frozen happy hour at 2, pool time, showers & change and dinner. We went back to Texas de Brazil at Brianna's request. We bought a few sweatshirts at the shops downstairs. We seem to be freezing indoors anywhere this year.

Came back to La Cabana, hit Glitz for a short run, Brianna walked out $60 richer, I left with the same amount I walked in with. That's a win in my book! Lounged in front of the TV for a bit and went right to sleep. It was a long day of relaxing! We needed our sleep!
