Yes, Andrea! A vacation together with our own space is becoming much more important as the boys get older. I do love the snuggles in our bed, but totally enjoy everyone having their own "chill" space. Jason's on the pull out in my room, Michael on the pull out in Brianna's room. Perfect.

    Saturday 8/18

Very early morning walk and palapas secured. I got two of them to make sure we had enough shade. I told the security guy right off the bat that I have 4 room right now so don't come yelling at me! Ann's mom, Estelle, is allergic to an ingredient in most sunscreen so she doesn't use it - at all! Like none! So shade is super important. At 81 yrs old, we don't need any allergic reactions while on vacation!

Laurie came down and did her morning walk on the beach, slowly but surely everyone but my mom came to the beach. Brianna rented a paddle board from Julio and the boys eventually climbed on & had fun. They are in that stage where they say no to EVERYTHING when asked, then I firmly say, Oh you meant YES? and then, SHOCKER, they actually have fun! Huh....

Bingo & frozen happy hour at the pool. My mom had secured 2 tables at the pool.....great minds and all that....she ordered a bunch of apps from Islander and we lunched & played & dipped in the pool.

Up for a few showers, Jason, Brianna, Laurie & I went to Superfood for just a few items for their room.....6 bags of food & a few hundred bucks later we returned home.

I started some prep cooking for Sunday dinner. We talk so much about cooking on vacation on this board. I can not begin to tell you how excited and completely heart bursting it is for me to do this Sunday dinner for my family. My kids all here together, my Sisters from California, "Grandma Estelle" from Texas, my mom who lives close but is thankful every day to be here with us and able to eat a meal. I will have dinner ready for 10 people and we won't be able to all sit at a table together, but we will all share a meal together and it will be the best family time!

OK, anyway.....we all got ready and went to Las Ramblas on property for dinner. I am almost embarrassed to say I've never been! I don't eat beef and I don't like most grilled foods. I don't like the taste of fire or char. But Rich & I don't eat like we used to and don't feel like we have too much of a say in where we go for dinners so we went at my mom & Brianna's request.

Everyone loved their meals. I went with an appetizer for dinner and was not impressed. But that's fine. Many steaks, a pork tenderloin, a chicken dish (which I probably should have ordered) paella, salads. I had the eggplant rollatini, the melted cheese on top was delicious.

Off to Glitz for a quick play, then up to our room for Pokeno. Laurie & Estelle went to their room, a little exhausted from the day. Rich bailed after losing just one game - he was tired. Brianna bailed after she had no quarters left. The rest of us played a few more hands and then a double anti coverall and called it a night.

A very full, very happy, very blessed day!!

    Sunday 8/19Sh

Typical watching the island wake up with my coffee on the balcony till my sister in law messaged that she was on her way for a beach walk. I had dressed in gym clothes, forgetting the gym doesn't open till 8 so I was ready for a walk. I ran down & met her at palapa 91 and we walked toward the high rise area (she didn't realize you can't go far, but I didn't say anything. I love watching people learn about Aruba. She loved the look of the rock and the ocean in that area, took a video and then we turned around and walked all the way down to Casa del Mar! Not bad for a chick who needs a full knee replacement! I was pretty impressed with myself.

Came back to the room to change, the kids went down to Islander for the Sunday buffet, I sat with them for a hot minute then went to the beach. Lunchtime Ann & Brianna went over to the food truck in the parking lot, but it was closed. They walked a little further and found something else and brought back a few containers of food to the pool area.

We had a planned 1:30 FaceTime call with our nieces & SIL in Germany. We ate quickly, excited to make that call. We got everyone on the phones, decided to use the Facebook video chat feature instead so we could have multiple phones around the pool for all of us. Just like we expected there was news to tell! Our eldest niece, Martina, is pregnant!! Can you just picture the 6 of us sappy bawling aunties sitting around the table? Of course Lisa was crying too! (Martina's mom, Rich & Laurie's sister) Lisa messaged us all later on how nice it was to all cry together! I am so very thankful for technology and bringing the tech with us to Aruba for times like this!

Michael won a bingo ($20) and Ann won full board ($92) then I came up to shower and finish cooking. Planned on 6pm, but I don't know these convection ovens well enough to judge so dinner wound up being ready at 5:30. Had everyone come over early. I set all the food up in the Studio unit (my parents) and put the coffee table and dining table together & got chairs around and used the couch & the stools from the studio and actually got 10 people around a big, multi level table. We tried bringing the dining table from Brianna's unit into mine for a big family table, but it didn't fit thru the doorway - the must have taken the doors off or hoisted them in thru the balcony door. Anyway it worked out just fine and my heart was just exploding!

My sisters cleaned up everything while I packed some food for them to take back to their room and we played Pokeno and had a pudding pie & cut up fruit that my mom made then took an ice cream break and went to Baskin Robbins at Tropicana. Back up to the room for some Left, Right Center (which I think is actually called Left Center Right.

Everyone went to their own rooms, but my kids who stayed & played some rummy and pulled out the left overs to eat again. I wasn't even annoyed when I woke up to the sink full of dishes! Heart still exploding!

Did you get a photo of everyone sitting around the multi level table? That would have been a photo op!

What a nice family vacation! I've been to Las Ramblas a few times. The food is good but sometimes the service is extremely slowing Ms Daisy is usually anxious to hit the Glitz Casino. They usually don't have a lot of waiters.

Can I ask you about your morning walks? I've actually have never walked on the beach after more than 12 trips to Aruba. I usually stay at La Cabana but walk the road up to Costa Linda or Allahandra Casino and back. I should probably try beach walking and this way I can secure my palapa since i usually don't get to the beach until 1030am and then I end up all the way in the back. I usually walk between 630am-730am.

When you walk on the beach are you wearing sneakers or those rubber beach shoes or which do you recommend?

How far do you walk to and towards?

How far can you get towards the high rise I believe maybe Divi Phoenix?
