Direct flight. Scheduled 8:40, delayed to 11:55, got to AUA only 2 hours late. Mom is using a walker so we zipped thru all the lines in Aruba, they didn’t care at JFK. Bully was there waiting for us with 2 vans & got us to Tropicana a little before 4. Really nice 3 BR unit. All redone. We dropped bags, changed & were in the pool by 4:45! Drying off now to grab some food!

Was Bully still looking healthy? I heard he was successful in losing weight which is not easy but important when you need to improve health.

So glad you're there. A 2 hour late arrival coulda been so much worse.

Bully looks FANTASTIC! He's feeling so much better too! Health issues are gone and he's happy. His biggest problem right now is that none of his clothes fit!

I slept in till 5 today!!!! Wooooohoooo!

Mom scheduled car service. Originally told me pick up was 4am. When I spoke with her on Tues she said 5 - I asked if she was sure since we should really be a JFK by 5:40. She said yes....ok. Went to bed a little after 1, got up at 3:30 to shower & love on my pups a bit and get everyone up & going. Rich got up a little after me, worried that the guy would actually show up at 4 like he should. Good idea because he was at our house at about 4:40. Got to my parents house a little before 5 - NOT a SINGLE light on in the house. UGH! Their alarm never went off. Scrambled like crazy to get them up and them & their luggage out of the house! Even with the traffic on the Van Wyck we got to JFK at 5:55! Perfect! Used the express check in outside for 6 of us, my Goddaughter had to go inside and wait in line because her dumb father listed her as an unaccompanied minor (HELLO? I am accompanying her!)...anyway. I'm kinda thankful we had to go in & speak to the agent because that's when we found out about the delay. Apparently while I was packing and not watching the news, there were major thunder & lightning storms and 3 people were struck by lightning in Queens and many hospitalized. Huh. The agent was really annoyed that I had no idea what was going on. Welcome to my life, lady! At least we didn't have to rush to the gate, the parents don't have a fast speed setting anymore! We left them at a food court area and walked to the gate to find hundreds of people laying all over the floor with pillows & blankets and every single seat taken at all the gates around. Boxes of coffee & danish & muffins on a few different desks. It was crazy - kudos to Delta for trying to help.

We went over to the gate around 9:30 since a San Francisco flight was suppose to leave that gate at 9. Of course that was delayed a little longer, which was ok since we didn't have a plane anyway. A captain came to the desk and informed us over the paging system that he just brought a plane over for us. He had to take a taxi to Newark to pick it up! He said it was a beautiful machine and we'd be very happy. So cute! It was a really nice updated plane. All touch screen entertainment stuff. Free wifi for the entire flight. Free headphones to anyone who needed them because the use the older male plug in type. Each screen had a USB port to charge your phone. Really nice.

You already know about arrival. So..

I really love the size of the rooms at Tropicana. I just wish the resort had the same feel as La Cabana - it does not. Rather than sneaking around in the dark to make coffee and find my way to the balcony, I am actually sitting at the dining room table with the light on! And Michael is right there on the pull out sofa in the living room not bothered by the light or my typing.

We have a 3 bedroom unit. One room with 2 twins, 1 queen and 1 King. 2 Bathrooms, good sized kitchen with all new(ish) stainless appliances and a washer/dryer in the unit.

We stayed here and in the pool for a bit then went to Uncle Tony's on site - where Pizza Bob's used to be. It was ok, but it's no Pizza Bob's. We split an antipasto salad of rolled meats, amazing mozz, bruschetta, grilled peppers & zucchini. I had a shrimp cocktail for my meal. Very large shrimp - clean, fresh yummy. Three had chicken parm - ok, but wouldn't order again. Tasted like the chix was breaded & cooked earlier & they just added the marinara & cheese & warmed it up. Both boys made their own pizzas. They both loved them. Thick crust - they both had grilled chicken & bacon - one with buffalo sauce & mozz cheese, the other with chipotle bbq sauce & cheddar. They looked really good if you like a thick crust.

Came upstairs, unpacked a bit, showered and CRASHED hard around 9pm! Exhausted!

My biggest fear is oversleeping and missing a flight. I always set multiple alarms. Glad you’re all settled in. Have fun!!!

aww they slept in! not good on travel day

I understand about the "feel" at the trop.
when Paul and I owned there, (week 51 and 52 and it was still a part of Lacabana) we always felt like "the unwelcome relatives."
although the resort is nice and accommodating, there is just something missing there. warmth maybe?

now it is time to begin your day!!
    enjoy.

    superfood or lings?

Neither till we move to La Cabana

Just back from the gym & Dunks. They must be renovating the gym because they've moved all the equipment into 2 ground floor guest rooms. Odd layout, but probably a temporary situation.
