I come from a pretty big family. First cousins alone count in at 42! Add in in-laws, kids, along with the various other “aunts, uncles, and cousins” related not by blood but by love, and it’s easy to see there are a lot of us!
This year we’re 22 people ranging in age from 25 to 70 ( guess who are the oldest LOL ).
My cousin and her husband arrived on Thursday; prevacation at the Surf Club for a few days and are now at the Ocean Club, where we will be tomorrow.
Sixteen more are on this morning’s first Jet Blue flight out of JFK. They’re in the air now.
My daughter and her girlfriend are on the next Jet Blue flight from JFK and will arrive two hours after them. They’re all staying at the Playa Linda.
Mike and I land tomorrow at 12:30, flying Delta from JFK. Stephanie and Marissa will join us in the Ocean Club for the week.
There will be a lot on walking between the two resorts so we should be getting plenty of exercise!
We really don’t have much planned. We’ll all meet up on the beach tomorrow evening for the fireworks. I have 4 tickets to Aruba Ray’s opening night show the following week. With a crowd as large as ours we don’t dinners together but will probably organize a barbecue for one of the days.
So far, I have reservations at Atardi and OceanZ. I know we’ll eat at Wacky Wahoos a couple of nights; same for Chicken and Lobster. Tradition holds that night 1 is the bar at Ruth Chris. We’ll hopefully get back from the fireworks to make it before they close. Red Fish is also on our list. We discovered Diana’s Pancakes when we were there in May and will definitely pay them a few visits too!
I’ll cook a few nights. Bringing enough pasta and canned San Marzano tomatoes for 2 meals and a couple of frozen steaks the butcher wrapped for me. We’ll pick up the rest at Lings tomorrow while we’re waiting for our room.
24 hours from now we’ll be on the plane! Then it’s 2 weeks of fun, sun, sand and sea!
