Hi Sean. I was sitting on the beach yesterday, wishing that you and Susan were here to visit with us! Hopefully, we'll see you in February. Please let me know when you book your trip. We will definitely be here week 6 but could book either week 5 or 7, and we'd love to be here when you guys are here. Thanks for the tip that you gave the forum members about bringing a lanyard to attach to your masks. We did that and they have worked out great. No masks blowing away or having to dig them out of your pocket. We just keep it on the attached cords around our neck. Works out great!

The plan yesterday was to do nothing but relax on the beach, but we ran into a little blip. Our sprinkler system has been messing up. The day before we left, one of the zones wouldn't turn off. I called our sprinkler company and they said that they couldn't get anyone out to fix it for two weeks. The zone continued to run even after shutting the main water supply off. My husband went to a sprinkler supply store and bought a new valve and replaced it, and that worked. I asked my neighbor to keep an eye on it for us. Early yesterday morning, she emailed me and told me that a different zone was running for hours. We called her several times and walked her through cutting the water main off in the yard, but that zone continued to run. She was kind enough to call around and got someone on an emergency line to make an emergency visit to our house. We had told her that we would pay whatever they wanted to get this fixed. She pleaded with the guy and even told him that we would pay triple to get it fixed. She met him at our house that afternoon and he replaced some parts, so hopefully it is now fixed. He only charged us double but at that point, price didn't matter. We are close to our neighbors. They are snowbirds, and I watch over their place every winter while they live in Florida, so she was actually happy to return the favor.

After getting that resolved, we DID finally relax on the beach. We stayed all afternoon and watched a glorious sunset. We had dinner here at Costa Linda, at Waters Edge. The food and the service are really good and they had a violinist. It was a lovely evening.

Ugh. That's our worst nightmare when we're away. We've gone to extraordinary lengths to be able to control water remotely. We now have wifi water main control on our house in Canada and, yesterday, we just had wifi-controllable water valves delivered to our house in Aruba - now, when we're away from either place, we can shut water off remotely. BIG relief.

We've been finding the weather a little dodgy for the past week - overcast a lot of days. Glad you grabbed a good sunset though!

Thank goodness for good neighbors and friends willing to step up when the need arises. Glad you're enjoying the island.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!

Wifi water controls sound like a great idea. I'm going to look into that. Although that wouldn't have helped in this case since one of the valves was stuck open. I'm glad that my neighbors were home to help us out.

Sunday was a lazy beach day. We had reservations at Screaming Eagle for dinner. We've walked past there dozens of times over the years, but never dined there. I started reading some reviews a few weeks ago, and almost all were horrible, especially concerning the service. Apparently, the main chef left and sold his shares in the business, and when they reopened they had to hire a lot of new staff. The reviews from the last several weeks have been much better so we decided to go ahead with our reservation.

They have built a large porch and have moved all of their dining to outside, no more dinners in bed. We found the service to be excellent throughout the entire meal. I ordered grilled scallops and Tom ordered the salmon. The scallops were fresh and juicy but were bland. It came with pureed peas and thick bacon, which was excellent. I've been on a diet for 8 months so I don't have much appetite, so Tom ate most of my dinner, along with his. I've lost 44 pounds, and even though I plan to enjoy myself on this trip, I don't want to put too many pounds back on, while we are here. Tom said that his salmon was good, but not as good as the salmon that I grill at home.
All in all, it was a nice evening but I'm not sure that we would return.

Congrats on the weight loss! That really is discipline! For some reason, the menu at Screaming Eagle never drew us in. It’s difficult for restaurants starting over with new staff. Hopefully, things will improve.
