Thanks for the update. Seems like you're trying to do all the right things..... sorry that not everyone is 'playing along'......

Rubysally - I would have no problem asking taxi drivers to put mask on before entering taxi. Hopefully most are vaccinated. They know the rules. They will comply. We take cabs too!

Great update. You are as safe as you can be. I agree with above. Definitely request the taxi driver use a mask. The driver should know better but... Enjoy your stay and relax.

Tuesday morning and so far it’s not raining. I’m hoping we can get some sun today. Yesterday’s weather was not great at all. The sun came out for maybe 10 minutes at the most. All clouds, rain and most of the people decided to just go back to there room. Lunch yesterday was garden fresh and dinner was bohemian. We went to bohemian by 5:30 and it was excellent. My son had the octopus for appetizer and the tenderloin for dinner. My husband and I had the early bird special which was French onion soup, the grouper which came with vegetables and my husband had the creme brûlée, I had 2 scoops of ice cream that was included also. My son got the thin apple tart and that was so good.

Yes, ask them. There is still a lot of ignorance. Someone I know had a taxi driver in Aruba tell them he didn't need to wear one or get the vaccine because he already had Covid, but did put it on. The person explained the facts to him.

I wonder if there's a way for the ATA to get a message/facts to all taxi drivers that they still need to wear masks regardless of whether they're vaccinated or have had COVID?

Yes Robin. A lot of people here think if they had COVID they don’t need vaccine. Ignorant thinking for sure!
act1966 - that is a great idea but ATA may not know this is an issue. I won’t get into a cab unless they have a mask on.

All: I've spoken with the drivers we've used for years now, Jerry and Jenny Jones. They consistently wear masks (we used them exclusively from November to July this past year).

If you want an assured and safe ride, you can reach them on WhatsApp at 297-730-1830.

Thank you - do you know if they are vaccinated? That would be a huge plus.

I've never asked and just assumed as they work in the tourism industry with lots of exposure to foreigners and travel out of Aruba a few times a year. They also have young kids so I don't think they'd take that kind of chance.

To be honest, we're not concerned about others being vaccinated anymore as the delta variant can be transmitted by anybody (including the vaccinated). So we're just glad to be vaccinated and, god forbid, if we do pick up the variant, chances are it'll just be a cold/flu-like situation. We continue to be vigilant about mask-wearing, sanitizer and distancing.

They drive a minivan so there's good distance and open the windows to ensure fresh air is sweeping through.
