    Holiday Inn 10/31-11/10

Had a nice time in Aruba but we were very boring. Every day I was up and on the beach by 6:30- husband would join me a little while later. Before leaving we both agreed that we would try our best to eat outside as much as possible, be vigilant with masking up when indoors and just spend our days on the beach- so we’re rather boring. We had the breakfast included so ate breakfast everyday at HI. I have never seen my husband eat so many omelets- he loved them. Lately I have found eggs bother me so I had plain yogurt with fruit and something similar to granola but not crunchy-was really good. Then I would either have Belgian waffle, hash browns, bacon anyhow there was plenty of choice and well worth the extra 10 bux a day on the room rate. We had a palapa because we have the HI credit card and used it to book the room. If you don’t have the card they charge 15$ a day. Everyday Roy would set up for us with 2 chairs,2 chaises. We also enjoyed the coffee bar in the lobby and lucky for me they were open by 6:30 am. I love the beds at the HI- very comfy. Our room was in the Palm tower- not my favorite cuz the bathroom was so small, room was so freezing had to ask for extra blanket.
We ate at Pelican Pier on our first night- was okay but we are not that picky. The bartender was awesome, fun to talk to and recognized us a few days later when we walked by him having drinks with friends at another bar. He even knew our names- amazing. We also went to Atardi( new to us- was very good),Salt and Pepper( was ok nothing amazing),Bingo’s (2x cuz we really like their coconut shrimp and most everything else we have had),Brownstone( we had ribs- good but messy ),Azzuro( new to us,was good but I still enjoy Elliotti’s more), we went to Yola’s one night for a few tapas- just okay for us but it seemed to be a younger crowd place and also went to Le Petite Cafe( I think that’s the name) where you cook on the stone- was better than I thought it would be.
Lunches we went to HI bar a few days, Carlitos for wings,Eduardo’s for my Acai bowl,Pelican Pier but best of all was the Greek restaurant on the walkway over by Scot’s brats. Wish I could remember the name- the food is so good and the woman running the window so nice! Good drinks too!
Just a few observations- visitors do not take the mask rule seriously and just like back here management tells employees they can’t say anything to them- except at the casinos- they speak right up! I don’t know how many times I asked people if they had their mask when they wanted to get on the elevator with me- yup I am a bitch about masking up.
Time to make dinner- will be back to tell you my airport experience!

I never gave much thought about the Holiday Inn but lately I’ve been hearing good things. Would you stay there again?

Sounds like a wonderful vacation, thanks for sharing your experience. We really enjoy staying at the HI too, and Roy is the best.

Thanks for sharing the details about HI since we have never stayed there so good to know. I love that you had guts to ask people to put masks on. Last year when we were in Nashville there was signs that only 2 people per elevator and the young groups always wanted to pile in with us and I would say it wasn't allowed. They would get sassy but I would just respond that I am OLD and can't risk it

Wonderful 'boring' trip...... low key just like ours. Thanks for giving us your update and thoughts. I'm with you on the masking thing with people.... some just don't care.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!
