Nice to hear that the Hilton staff made your arrival special especially after the rough start. Now it’s time to relax and enjoy!
I have been traveling to a hotel near the airport a day ahead of time just to be on the safe side getting there. Then I need only to catch the hotel jitney to the terminal to catch my flight. It worth the money to rid myself of anxiety.
I was ready to! But my traveling companion was aghast at the money I paid - I live only 15 minutes from the airport - so he was secretly hoping the black car wouldn't show. So much so that he ordered the Uber at 5:25 p.m. - five minutes before the other ride was supposed to pick us up. Glad he did. So it all worked out. And, the black car service refunded my money no questions asked.
WaltVB, it was excellent! Confessions: I adore my sweets and would be very happy with the continental breakfast, but having a mimosa was fun, and my traveling companion really enjoyed his omelet. Oh, the sweet breads were spectacular though - one definitely was made with ginger - like a gingersnap that was thick and moist. Yum! I want the recipe. And there was a maple-syrup type flan...okay, I am looking forward to tomorrow morning, diets be damned.
You guys!!! I won either:
- $700 towards gambling
- $100 cash
- $500 Visa Card to use in Aruba
- $1,200 off a vacation
Twice!!!
Two different times, a Pretty Young Thing stopped us on the sidewalk and handed us pulltab-type cards. Both times my male companion won a beer, I won the Grand Prize!!! All I need to do is show up to a timeshare-type discussion tomorrow morning. I can't believe I won both times.
Before the big win, we dined at The Bohemian (I need to look back at who recommend them - THANK YOU!). We tried their fixed price menu and it was excellent - my companion said the onion soup was the best he's ever eaten and the tenderloin kabob was spectacular. I am pretty sure the french fries were homemade too. I also ordered the calamari appetizer - it was like nothing I've ever eaten before - the spices were smoky and rich. So good. And the creme brulee came with a mint leaf - what a delicious combination. We're definitely going back again before our trip is done.
We also enjoyed two-for-one drinks. I had the Pinot Grigio - it was superb. I was a little fearful of the price it was so good - like, one glass would be $25. But it was only $10 for both.
After dinner we wandered around the neighborhood - people come out later. We are clearly old fogeys dining at 5:15, the crowds appeared about 9 p.m. We strolled over to The Vue, though we didn't think the tops of hotels much of one. However, the waitstaff pointed Jupiter out to us. And there was another bright star we couldn't define - my companion thought it was a geosynchronous satellite. After I'm done writing this, I am going to do an internet search. The highlight was an absolutely spectacular saxophonist who rocked "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, and we loved his rendition of Funky Town - here's to the Minneapolis sound!
After the sweet treats and before the excitement tonight, I lounged at a palapa I paid way too much money for. Palm Beach is a world apart from Eagle Beach. A totally different vibe. But, it's nice to have the conveniences and service of a resort of this caliber. Frankly, this is probably the best resort I've visited - I have done all-inclusives in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, but I find this is far more refined. None of the noise and boisterous behavior which I really, really appreciate- and exceptional service. (My companion believes it's quieter because of Covid.)
Of note: There is a cat with a green collar who roams this area - I saw him at the Hilton and at The Bohemian - a little marmalade. I quickly gave him a pet as he sauntered by, but he was focused on hunting. All I could think of is roaming between a resort and restaurant hunting critters would be my kitty's dream job.
So far so good - my companion is tempted to attend the time-share presentation tomorrow to claim both prizes..he feels incredibly lucky!![]()

I don't want to put a damper on your win...... but I'm a realist! You probably won the $1200 off of a vacation prize that was marked up $1500.... but that's only if you go into the high-pressure time share presentation in the morning.... and they'll do everything they can to get you to say 'yes'..... I guess it's like the old car guy scam where they refuse to give you your car keys back! Advice.... go to the beach instead!
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!
Run, run, run away from this scam! They not only use very high pressure arm twisting, I have read about so many people losing money to this presentation. They try to stop me every time I walk past them. They’re located cross the street from the Hilton, correct? Google Aruba timeshare sales scam reviews and see for yourself.
