It was so nice to read your reports and hear that even during these times, a family could experience and enjoy the island.

    Thursday -

Last full day was spent on the beach ALL DAY. Almost till sunset, but then Ann let us know that we had a reservation for Go Karts at 7:15 so we showered, ate leftovers to get rid of some food in the fridges and met in the lobby to head to Bushiri Karting. SUCH a blast! Brianna & I had a great time watching the lunatics race around in circles for an hour or so.

Came back, put the laundry in the machine and went down to Glitz for a bit. What else am I supposed to do while waiting for laundry? lol Glitz was very nice to me for the first time this trip. I cashed out quick and went up to pack.

    Friday -

Early morning on the beach, left at 8:30 to finish packing and clean the room up a bit. Checked out at 10, went to Linda's for breakfast and headed to the airport. I LOVED dropping the car right at the airport. So convenient!

There were almost no lines at check in. Not a single person at the first security area. Interesting note - my husband went through the first set of security machines with no problem. The second set he kept setting off the alarm. I finally remembered that he had a full shoulder replacement and maybe that was the cause. They pulled him aside and used the wand over his shoulder confirming my thought. Odd that the first machine didn't set off the alarm.

Met everyone upstairs at the gates. We were all flying different airlines and all made it through at the same time. We got some waters and avoided eye contact with each other so we (OK, I) wouldn't cry. Brianna was the first to leave us to head to her gate. Of course I cried, even though she was going to meet me at our house just a few hours from then. I'm a really bad flyer. Just in case she died or I died I needed to make sure she knows how proud I am of her and how much I love her. Ugh. I hate myself sometimes!

Then we were starting to board and that dreadful hug goodbye came. Tears all around, even though we are hoping to see my sisters in law in November. Round trip flights to California are $148 non-stop right now. Rich & I took time off work for his aunt's surprise 80th birthday in TN, but we don't think that will happen so we may just go out to Cali instead.

Boarding was fine. Many seat were open on the plane. We were on a very nice 757 with Hulu so we were able to watch shows & movies until we landed. Nice perk. We hit a bit of light turbulence. Apparently there have been many storms & hurricanes forming. Pilot came on to let us know he tried going higher & lower & unfortunately we were just going to have to deal with it.

Bags were on the carousel when we got there. JFK was a ghost town. Vehicles were outside when we walked out. Perfect travel day.

Landed early (6:40) got home at 8:17 from NYC with a ton of traffic on the Van Wyck. Not bad at all.

The puppies were SO HAPPY to see us as was my cousin Jessica who had been watching them! lol

Jason was dying to drive so he offered to go pick up Habit Burger for dinner. He did, we ate, unpacked a bit and crashed hard! Back to reality.

Another insanely amazing, family reconnecting, soul rejuvenating experience in the most beautiful paradise I have ever known!

If only I were younger I would ask Jackie to adopt me. HA HA HA... Wow I am so tempted now to go on my trip in September after seeing the Ghost Airports and I know occupancy must have been low at La Cabana as well. I have a week starting Sep 20th thru 27th time share exchange with Interval and I will just lose it if I don't go. I never cancelled my airfare which was purchased on Jet Blue with points so all I really paid out of pocket was $60 round trip baggage fee $140 for extra leg room upgrade and I think $80 in taxes. The only issue is getting that test on time but thru their website for finding a place at home I did find some testing sites in Long Island that can have the the results ready within 72 hours.

We shall see. I will keep monitoring the situation...
