[Countdown=12/01/2013 2:30 AM;]I'm finally there]Count down:[/Countdown]
Sounds like a great full first day together! Hoping that crazy weather doesn’t hit Aruba. Nothing is normal anymore with the global weather changes. Fingers crossed you have a great weather week! Have a blast!
June 27 Monday
I can barely hold my hands in the right spot to type..I am THAT tired.
Weather……..clouds, on and off but mostly off. A little less wind and lots of sun.
The clouds were welcomed!
We spent the day at Surfside Beach…Reflexions and it was glorious.
Kevin and Becca went off towards the airport runway to fish and Paul and the kids and I spent a long time in the water. The boys enjoyed their snorkel gear and chasing minnows.
I am glad that they have taken to the water so well.
We had a big lunch there at their bar/restaurant and all was pretty tasty……..’cept mine.
I ordered chicken sate’ and it was so hard I could not cut the chicken or chew it. It was like jerky. I did not send it back because I was hot and tired and the kids were itching to go back into the water. Our resident cat here at the Airbnb enjoyed it though! A win for the cat.
Everyone else had burgers or hot dogs and all seemed happy.
Kevin and Becca went off to Madam Janette for dinner and had a delicious meal.
Paul, the kids and I………..we were supposed to head to Bochincha Container yard for dinner, but the kid’s booster car seats were with their parent’s car rental and we did not dare take them without those car seats. So, we had PBJ on toast and tomato soup and oreos.
A supper of champions AND then more swimming in the pool here.
Paul and I headed over to the Alhambra at about 8:30 and I had a hit on the Fu De Le machine for $303 and I cashed out , we got an ice cream, got gas for the car and went home.
Gas stations crowded with folks prepping for the storm.
I am not going to feed into the storm frenzy, but suffice it to say there are some worries of heavy rain and flooding. Last update, we should see some of it as early as Wed afternoon.
Time to shoo the cat outta here. She is lovely, we want her, but cannot have her.
Our old man cat and our spoiled little shih tzu would go “ballistic”
Tomorrow……….. wondering if the kids or Paul would mind if I slept til noon?
Sounds like a fun full day. No wonder you are tired. Also the sun/beach definitely tires you out. Add 2 little boys to that. So nice Kevin and Becca got to have a dinner date night too. Sorry about your tough chicken. Hate when that happens! Thanks for sharing your day.
You may be tired but the memories will never get old and tired.
I am a satay lover too. Kamini's Kitchen has the best I've had recently on the island. Put it on your list for future lunch.
Looks like the storm is tracking further south - so, probably just a rain event for Aruba. Stay safe.
Something about the chicken in Aruba. Once at Chalet Suisse, I order an entry of the meats veal, chicken and sausage or something like that. Everything was good except the chicken which was very tuff. The matre d came around and ask if everything was good. I said well the chicken is very tuff even to cut. He just said, do you want me to put it back in the grill? I said, I would think it would make it worst. He just walked away. I was disappointed! That was Benny who knows me as I've been there around a dozen times including twice for thanksgiving.
Nice win! I know you are so tired, but you are making wonderful memories with your grandsons. I guess filling up the car with gas before the storm is something people do everywhere, even though they do need the gas to evacuate. I wonder if they are also getting milk, bread and eggs-you need french toast for hurricanes and blizzards.
Lovin' your updates... and so happy the kids are enjoying the visit and you are enjoying the kids.... I really hope this upcoming storm is gentle... I'd be devastated if it interferred with our flight Thursday...!
