So adorable! How long has it been since they’ve been in Aruba?
It’s wonderful that you and your family are happily making memories in Aruba. Your grandsons smiles say it all! Enjoy the rest of your stay and keep up with the casino wins.
June 28. Tuesday
At about 3 am we awoke to LOUD heavy rain that seemed to continue for a long time.
I thought of my 2 bathing suits outside hanging on the line and frowned, turned over and went back to sleep.
We awoke at 7 to a blue sky and sun.
The breezes seemed a little less today, maybe saving their muster for Wednesday night?
We spent the day at Eagle Beach, visited friends poolside at LaCabana, back to the beach and then back to the Airbnb for a 2 hr nap.
We took a short walk and the waste treatment stunk badly wafting towards the Amsterdam Manor, and that section of Eagle Beach……….yuk. The north parking lot at LaCabana stunk too.
The kids, including their parents went to the gold mine ruins, but the older child, Jake………..was having none of that. He planted his heels and turned into the devil’s spawn and was not a happy camper til allowed to return to the beach. After a while, they got back in the car and everyone was happy once they got back into the water. Really, no kid likes touring……………..even this old lady…at age 67 I do not like touring. Bring on the beach!!!
We had breakfast and lunch at Islander Grill……………bagels and bacon for breakfast and burgers and salads for lunch.
Dinner was at the Fish House……….behind the airport runway at the marina.
It is a tricky drive in, but maps.me got us to the door! We have been there 5 or 6 times and up til today got lost!
6 of us for dinner………….kids ordered pasta and grown ups all ordered Brights, shrimp or fish tacos and some calamari as an appetizer. All delicious and inexpensive…………. $116 for the 6 of us plus $25 for tip. The tacos were excellent.
The Alhambra was unkind.
Tomorrow………..we will get to the beach for a few hours and then meet up with Jay and family for a drink, …………..all revolving around the weather.
We are as prepared as we can be.
Will pick up some ice in the morning.
I would much rather be at home for a storm.
At least we have a generator…………which will run a couple of portable airco units, refrigerator and the “almighty Cuisinart percolator”. Yes, we went back to an electric percolator a year ago and the Keurig went to goodwill.
Will post tomorrow.
THINK.. is it Thoughtful? Helpful? Inspirational? Necessary? Kind? sidtm
It sounds like you are making wonderful memories with your family despite the unpredictable weather. I realize you’re not home but you do know how to prepare for a possible storm. Whatever happens hopefully it passes quickly with little impact. We were in Florida on vacation twice and rode out a hurricane and a tropical storm. Lots of anxiety at the time but now we talk about it just being part of our vacations.
Sorry the casino has been unkind. Enjoy your day today and then hunker down till the storm passes. Remember you’re making great memories with your grandsons.
What a wonderful day you guys had. The boys must have enjoyed dining out all day. Enjoy every moment. You have a great attitude about pending storm. What choice does everyone have right? Just go with it and hope it passes quickly. Fingers crossed. So unusual for Aruba. Thanks for the wonderful daily updates.
