Love your trip report.

Where the fireworks tonight coming from LaCabana? We were surprised to hear and see them. We are down the street at Oceania and some of them felt like we could reach out and touch them.

Decided on Terraza Italians at Paradise Beach Villas, last night for dinner, as I can see it from my room. No reservation, but just me so they moved a table around and I got seated. Meal was great, salad was crisp and the pasta was done just right. The owner stopped by and we had a great chat about the dog rescues, she was so sweet.
Another great day, but, I did have a hiccup. I was up early, decided to grab a chair at the pool, I was a little worried that my one sad towel wasn't going to be able to save my spot, but I left it and went out for breakfast to Ricardo's. Great view and good meal. Got back and sure enough my towel was gone. It was barely 95 minutes and I was mad. The 2 tables next to mine, that also had items there when I put mine there hadn't been touched. I spoke to a woman near by, she agreed only my things had been moved. Replaced with a gaggle of things, but no people.
Now, I realize traveling alone, I probably won't get the best seat and that's fine, but this was obnoxious. Found security guard after a bit and he was not concerned, now I was angry. This wasn't right and then he chuckled and told me "baby, you got to relax" ahhh, oh boy, that did not help!!. I just wanted to get my stuff and planned to go to Arashi for the day. He showed me his list and sure enough it had been about 95 minutes, but while looking at the list, I noticed that mine was the only table that he removed things from...now I wasn't allowed to see the list anymore. Got my stuff, went to my room and as huffy as I was I wanted a manager to know that treating singles like this is wrong. Took a bit but John, the manager of security called me back. He was great, I was angry and he handled it completely professionally. Said he needed a few minutes and would call me back. He did!! And I think he did know that mine was the only one moved, he came up with an extra umbrella and chair and met me at the pool. He had such a grace about being able to solve my problem I was very impressed. Offered drink or breakfast, I declined, all I wanted was a chair, lol. He really turned the situation around.
So, I had a lovely day by the pool here, some great volleyball games, didn't win at bingo, but it was fun.
Met folks from the rescue group to help socialize some older dogs. We did a good walk through the dunes out by the lighthouse, great experience.
Got to Moomba to have dinner as the sun set. Excellent. Little walk, some gelato and now winding down.

Put a Tee shirt around a chair and a towel on another chair. Also something on table to make it look occupied. A coffee cup with a rock in it with a lid. We usually find some cool shells or a coconut and also leave on table. The old hanging bag works well too. If you cant beat them join them. People tend not to move multiple items. Also check the check in times with security. Usually when your checked in, your good. I think they will remember you now!

I am glad it all worked out for you.

leaving for 95 minutes too is a bit of a stretch.
what is the allowable limit to be away from your table/lounge/umbrella?

what we usually do is to let the security guy (the one wandering around the pool area) know that we are heading to the room or ocean for
a dip or to make lunch, whatever and will be back in X minutes. the most we are usually gone is 1 hr.

there are so many folks at all of the resorts that grab a spot under an umbrella and then leave for 2 or more hours ...and that is unfair to those that need a spot.

I generally leave my towel, flops and sunscreen and go grab breakfast. However, we’re never longer than an hour.

I'm not sure where the fireworks were from, I certainly heard them, but there were not any flyers at La Cabana or announcements about them. My room faced the other direction and I didn't investigate, I suspect it may have been the Amsterdam Manor.
The 'policy' is 90 minutes, and I've certainly learned my lesson! Lol. I will say overall people were very accommodating and often offered to share. The whole process of the chair game at all the resorts on Aruba still baffles me. I understand wanting a front row or right next to the pool, but, just for any old umbrella is crazy to me...but it seems to be the game!
Sadly, at the airport waiting for boarding for a very full flight, I had hoped that Thursday travel might not be as crazy, but they've already announced that its a full flight and asking for volunteers to check bags. Overall, the airport seems full, but I did get through all the lines with no issues.
Till next time gang!! I'll be reading all your posts!
