I'm back from dinner at Ike's. Since I was early (for around here at least!), I got a table out around the pool in time to see a beautiful Aruba sunset. Opted for an Aperol Spritz (Fabian makes them better than whoever did tonight; glad he'll be back tomorrow!). Full disclosure, I was disappointed in dinner tonight; pretty sure that's a first for me at Ike's. The lobster and shrimp bisque had one piece of lobster meat in it and I thought it was too thin to be called a bisque. Also a bit salty which is rare around here in my experience. The lobster and shrimp in the risotto dish was generous and I could tell the lobster was fresh. I could taste the ocean in a few pieces! Now for the risotto - sub par. Not creamy and too al dente for risotto. Yes, you want some "bite" to it but this one didn't cut it for me. Also not much flavor. I wish I'd ordered one of the other dishes. But I ate all the lobster and shrimp (and some of the rice) so my tummy was satisfied. Finished it off with their delicious creme brulee and a cappuccino. All in all, not terrible but not great.
I'm tired from that full beach day so think it will be an early night. No plan for tomorrow except dinner at TOF since Quintin texted me that he'll be back on duty and he wants to chat about NYC. May need to have their pan-seared grouper again. I've been thinking about it since last Wednesday...and tomorrow is the Manager's cocktail hour here so there will be some local vendors. Hoping some Christmas shopping will get done. Other than that... you'll just have to wait to see what I come up with!

Disappointing to hear that dinner was subpar!!! I almost always a shrimp dish from Ike’s and have been pleased. Guess any place can have a bad night. I always enjoy the managers night. They usually have good vendors. Wonder if the managers will share any of the future plans for the resort.
You sometimes throw the dice...and they fly right off the table!
When I get home I'll send you a full-proof risotto recipe. You make it in the oven so no standing over the stove stirring endlessly. I was very skeptical the first time I tried it. Now it's how I do it most of the time unless I'm really in the mood to cook (which is rare these days).
The hat is good. Next the rash guard, okay?

Me too Andrea! Lisa, your days and evenings sound perfect! Relaxing, beach time, pool time, great food and drinks, music, videos, books! You're doing it all girl! I love it and I enjoy how you write your trip reports - I can visualize and feel like I'm there on Aruba! Perfect vaca! You know how to do it! Thrilled for you being there and having such a great time!
