We could make it happen if we really put our minds to it!

It's been another beautiful day in Aruba, although a lot of clouds seem to be moving in right now. I got up early, threw on some clothes, and went down to the beach to bid farewell to Glenn's soulmate. I can't imagine how difficult today is for him although he assures me he is surrounded by family and friends who are taking good care of him. Still...

Having done as I promised, I went back to bed and stayed there until 8:30. I really didn't want to get up but did, got my palapa, and went to Ike's for breakfast. Caffeine was all I really wanted but for some unknown reason I ordered the Aruban Breakfast (think of a lumberjack-type feast). I really don't know what I was thinking other than I was still only half awake. Suddenly this ENORMOUS plate of food appears in front of me. Two over-easy eggs, fried potatoes, bacon, sausage, a pastechi (first one; pretty good), some hush puppy type thing, and a giant croissant. I ate the eggs, pastechi, bacon, and a couple of the potatoes. Wrapped up the croissant and brought it back up to room. Got ready and dragged myself down to the beach with my music today instead of Kindle. I needed the soothing sounds of my beloved boys. Reading and holding the Kindle seemed like too much work today. I know, I'm pathetic...It's very windy again today. Joseul showed up at 11:30 dispensing flags to all us thirsty tourists. Words were not necessary; he took one look at me and said "I'll be back with your daiquiri". I think I may have to take him home with me...
I lasted until 1:30 and knew that was it for the beach today. I thought it was much more humid than it has been. Even with the strong wind, I just wasn't comfortable and a nap was seriously being considered. I didn't even feel like eating (but did eat the croissant when I got back upstairs). A nice shower and then the dream bed started calling my name. So I opened the curtains, rearranged the pillows so I could lay down and look outside, turned on my music and...wait for it...yes, a nap finally happened! Manager's cocktail party just started. I should go down, at least to check out the vendors. I don't really feel like it. In all honesty, I'd like to just vegetate and do stuff on the computer. I'm starting to feel a bit guilty about basically doing nothing worthwhile day in and day out. It's very difficult for me to relax this much. I'm trying my best but with really only two full days left (not counting today) I kind of wish I'd done more. But why? I'm on vacation. Devil on left shoulder talking to angel on the right one...think I'll just knock them both off and drag my arse down to the pavillion before this brief spurt of energy dissipates again...later peeps!

Bummer about dinner not being what you hoped for. I still might give that a try though. A friend went with me to TMA last year and a had a lobster pasta dish that he truly enjoyed and raved about, so I might try lobster there... we'll see. I have a couple of friends here at home who are lobstermen and I can get great deals on fresh off the boat lobster and scallops, so I can be a little picky sometimes (maybe like your risotto ).

    Loving your relaxing vacation!

I will post the oven risotto recipe in Off Topic when I get home (someone remind me if it doesn't happen!) for those of you who asked.

Yes, Andrea, early dinner at TOF again. And I'm going tomorrow night too because Quinny will be off on Thursday and I want to see him again before I leave. I should know by now it's never good for me to skip lunch (pounding headache and I didn't bring enough Advil) so I went down at 5:30 and took advantage of their Early Bird special. Great caesar salad, a huge piece of pan-fried grouper with lemon butter sauce. As much as I love their mashed potatoes, I opted for plain old white rice this time. Wasn't that healthy of me? Except I slathered it with the lemon butter sauce and asked for more (which they happily supplied). I almost finished the fish and left most of the rice. All washed down with a yummy Aperol Spritz. It came with dessert so I had a little bit of raspberry ice cream. I knew I couldn't do justice to the chocolate mousse as much as I would have loved to. I got back in time to see a beautiful sunset and I'm already ensconced in my room with the PJs on for a night of surfing the net.

I can see I was a bit careless with applying the sunblock today around my neck and shoulders (my prime locations for sunburn). But I can see tan lines (or what they pass for on me)! But the face remains pale which is prime for me. FYI, for any of you with fair, sensitive skin, I can highly recommend Neutrogena Clear Face oil-free sunscreen (SPF 50). I've been using it for years and it has never failed me.

Andrea, why did you remind me of work? You are so mean! I have barely given it a thought which is a triumph for me. I did hear from my boss but only because I asked him to be on the lookout for a package I was expecting from South Korea and to squirrel it away someplace safe (which it and he did; he drives me nuts but he's a good guy and takes good care of me-when he isn't killing me with work!). Monday and the nightmare I anticipate seeing on my desk will be here soon enough.
