Just a quick recap before we get moving today. Yesterday was another fun island day. In the morning we met up with Brian "Pop-pop" and his family. The kids played while the adults chatted....it was nice meeting another Aruba lover for sure. After hanging with them my wife was starving as she does not really eat breakfast so we made it back over to the Madero bar for the 1st time in a couple of days. CJ found some friends and decided eating was over-rated and did not want to stop playing....think they played for about 4 hours or so. Tracy had the Nachos with chicken and really enjoyed them- again enough for a whole family to eat. I had my Madero club of course...yum. There was a younger man whos birthday was yesterday and he had just gotten in and was enjoying his lunch next to us....had a nice conversation with him. We bought his second drink after finding out it was his birthday....he was very surprised and extremely grateful.

After getting back to our room we decided to go back to the Ritz and enjoy dinner with our friend Dahlia who we don't see as often as we would like...dinner and drinks were excellent as always. After dinner we went to say "good-bye" to one of our friends who works on the club floor as he is headed home to the Philippians for good this fall. He has been here for 6 years working and sending money home to his family only returning once per year to see them. After saying goodbye and having one last Jessie special....we headed back to the Boardwalk so everyone but me could relax.

After tucking the family in I went back out to the Ritz for a bit. I checked on my points as that was something I did not mention the other day when I 1st inquired. When I asked they said $4 the other day and I was like #@$%$ ? She explained I had not used them in 2 years so they expired. I said I was away 2 years because of Covid and it stinks. I said I understand it was not your decision but losing my points stinks. I thought a had a couple of hundred points that are now gone....oh well. The next day I checked again to see how many I earned the day before in my brief play and she said "give me some time, when do you leave I am trying to restore your points" I said I am here till Sunday. Yesterday I checked again and WOW she did it! And not only did she do it but I have over $1400 to be used on dinner, stores, or on a room charge. I am going to verify again today and then go crazy trying to spend a lot of it prior to leaving....thinking BLT for dinner tonight on date night may be in the cards! After getting the great news I played some blackjack and video poker. I broke even at blackjack and one $100 on poker and decided to leave with my extra cash and a big smile knowing my points were back.

We are getting our Covid tests done this morning at 11am or so. Then will start spending my points at Madero.
Trip 33 begins on July 15.

One thing I forgot to mention and that is probably because I tried to block it out, lol. Yesterday right before heading out to dinner my wife was "cleaning her ears" when the Q-tip (not an official one and imposter) broke off IN her ear.....it scared the crap of me and thought we were off to the hospital as I could barely see it. Thankfully my wife had a pair of tweezers and I was able to safely grab the little part I could actually see and removed it....crisis averted, lol.

Off to our testing and to find out exactly when my points will expire and how to easily use them at BLT tonight. I said to T this morning that if they expire this summer and we don't figure out how to spend most of it I am coming back and will use my free flights, free room at the Courtyard and my points at the Ritz for another summer trip...she laughed and said don't worry Jay I will figure out how to spend the $1400 credit, lol.
Trip 33 begins on July 15.

Quick updated before we head out for date night...how things change in an instant and sometimes not for the better, lol. We are just fine but the Ritz...not so much. The ritz is under water!!! And its not water, trust me on that one. Its pouring out of the ceiling from the second floor....it closed down the Casino, Divi Bar outside of drinks...and Casa Nonna....its a S show for sure!!!! Its something like you could not imagine... It affected their water supply as well. Its a mini disaster area. I was taking pictures and they did not like that one bit, lol. We had planned on using my casino credit for dinner at BLT but that does not seem possible at this point- plan B coming soon....just no idea what it will be.
Trip 33 begins on July 15.

Jay, that is awful! I feel bad for all the folks staying and and for you and your family as well.
We actually had reservations for dinner at Casa Nonna tomorrow night which we just cancelled, today.
I guess that was a good thing.

Ritz isn't so Ritzy tonight. That is just awful. It could be days until things reopen. I am glad I don't have to clean that up.

In true Ritz fashion the figured it out quickly. By 9pm you would not know it happened unless you saw it. This morning they have already patched the ceiling primed it and is ready to be painted. That said it was not a pretty scene at all. I was sad we could not do BLT but we went down to Casa Tua for a nice meal and all was good. Prior to landing at Casa Tua we went to the Hyatt to enjoy a drink. Their property is always so pretty. Our dinners were very good. I enjoyed pizza and a salad and my wife had a pasta and veg dish she really enjoyed. We ended up chatting with the women next to us as she mentioned she was from Boston but working remotely from Aruba for a month....and she is loving it.

After dinner and some nice conversation we went to the Hilton...most of the people we really liked are gone so I don't see us going there going forward. We then walked back and gambled at the Ritz casino. It started off pretty ugly losing a $100 playing video poker before we played some blackjack- My wife did a great job playing as I watched and won $275 playing blackjack so we ended up plus $175 and that officially puts us in the POSITIVE side on gambligj on the week. Only up a bit over a $100 but way better than our previous couple of trips for sure.

I was up early this morning with some awful news. My sisters nephew died yesterday on an ATV- they don't have any details.. and her family is a mess right now... sad to wake up to that news for sure. I am not going to share the info with my wife or son till we return tomorrow as there is nothing we can do right now except pray.

Back to the positive, looking forward to one last beach day....and the fact they extended my casino points for 2 years makes me happy as well. Enjoy life is my thought of the day as you never know when your time is up.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Losing a child is the worst thing I think can happen to a person. How old was he?
