The waves along Eagle and Machebo Beach have been higher than normal. Early last week we had been at Divi Beach and it was in good shape. We haven't been there again for a few days, but we'll most likely get by there soon and I'll provide an update.

    Tuesday Day 9:

Today we picked up the car. We just put the new plates on and drove off the showroom floor. We left our rental car in their parking lot and then headed to the inspection station, which is beyond the airport. We thought we’d give the new boulevard a try and it was great. There was a lot of rubbernecking going on, so traffic wasn’t moving at the posted speed, but even with that, it only took eleven minutes to get to the airport.

We got to the inspection station and signed in. They assign you to an inspection lane and you drive your car to and wait your turn. The inspection only takes about five minutes and your done. They pull the car out of the lane and apply a sticker. You then take it to a parking spot and go back inside to receive your stamped receipt and documentation. The inspection costs 50 Afl. and is good for two years.

We were in the area, so we stopped at the Fish House for a beverage. We ate there last trip and the food was very good. We might stop back again this trip for dinner if we’re in the area, as it’s a nice setting.

We had to return the rental car at 4:00, so we headed in that direction and met Anky, from Wheels2go. Even though we had contracted for a month, they only charged for a week without penalty and we had the car for eight days. They have always treated us well.

Went back to the condo for a quick dip and then off to the movies. We usually go once a week if there is something of interest that we want to see.

Headed back to the condo and relaxed for a bit before hitting the sack.

Thank you...it should be a good investment for us.

Yes, the inside is air conditioned. We sat outside yesterday. With the covered seating and open air breeze it was quite comfortable, even for the wife that has those hot moments

At some point during this trip, we'd like to look for some "caribbean style" wedding bands. Any of you avid jewelry shoppers have any recommendations on where to go?

I’ve made a few purchases at Gandelmans downtown that I have been very happy with. They were David Yurman pieces and cost less than what I would pay at home.

Since there hasn't been anyone on the Island to give trip reports the last two weeks or so I've been slacking. I was so happy when I checked today and had 6 pages of this thread to catch up on! Thanks for taking us through the day to day of being an owner in Aruba, I find it fascinating and helps me accurately dream of the day when I own and can stay for a month or so.

    Also, the pictures are great.

We like the Fish House too. We had a great meal there, and the setting is very relaxing. The bartender recommended sitting inside if you are eating, which makes sense being right there at the marina, I'm sure flies would be attracted to food, it's just nature and we love that they considered as tourists we may not think of that. Prices are reasonable too.

    Congrats on the car.

    Wednesday Day 10:

Today was a nice relaxing day and we’ve finally lost track of the calendar.

We stopped at Romar Trading Cash and Carry to see what they have to offer. They have quite a selection of wine and beer and other spirits. We picked up some Kettle One and Miller Light beer. You can save some money there but keep in mind that it is cash only.

From there we went to Eagle Beach and parked our beach chairs by the water in front of Oceania. The waves were back to normal with a nice breeze, so it was very comfortable. Went back to the condo and took a refreshing dip in the pool before heading to happy hour.
We parked at La Cabana. They are redoing the parking lot and some of the curbing. The parking lot is now all pavers, which they are putting over the existing and is probably two thirds completed. The wife wanted to do a little shopping at the Red Sail store and bought a few things.

We made our way to Peta Peta. There were no seats open at the bar and no live entertainment, so we moved on.
We decided on Ricardo’s instead. They too don’t have live entertainment either, but their bar selection for happy hour is better than Peta Peta...JMHO. We stayed for a bit and then headed back to the condo.

I had another work night for a while, so we ate dinner in tonight. We sat poolside for awhile and turned in.
