Update: For those of you that have read out past trip reports you know that we pretty much follow the same daily routine, so we'll not bore you with that repeat day in and day out. Started out Monday renewing the gym membership at BodyTech Fitness Center, followed by breakfast at the condo and off to the beach. This will pretty much be the same everyday.

We've spent everyday at Eagle Beach, almost directly across from Oceania. We like it there as it's not crowded. Monday afternoon we went to The Glitz and Alhambra so the bride could get her slot fix. She was actually up at both casinos. From there we went to Pega Pega for happy hour and a bite to eat. Sun and beverages wore us out and we were back at the condo for a little TV and then called it a night. Really got a good nights sleep and felt rested Tuesday morning, as Monday we were still dragging from travel day.

Tuesday night we went to the movies and then back to The Glitz. The wife gave everything back and more. Retired shortly after.

Wednesday we stopped at Mathew's for happy hour and then to the new Beach Bar for their happy hour. Theirs's is another true one. All beverages are 2 for 1 from 5-6. Bar staff was attentive and there was a DJ playing. The location is very nice and one really can't get much closer to the beach. We'll definitely return. Stopped at Alhambra and watched the wife's bleeding continue. I played five hands of blackjack and made a quick $70 and cashed in. Really not much of a gambler, but I was watching one table and most we're following a strategy and the dealer could not win so I jumped in. Headed back to the condo for dinner and called it a night.

The weather has been great. The winds have been strong at the beach, with a few sand bites here and there. And also the waves have been rolling in at Eagle. Certainly not as calm as usual. The property was a little wet when we got up Tuesday morning, so we must have had an overnight shower at some point and we had a sprinkle at the beach Tuesday afternoon.

We're now in total relaxation mode, as one day runs into the next. The time flies by as we're busy doing nothing. Love being here...!

it is always a sign of good relaxation when the days run in to each other.
    fyi it is Thursday

is there a way in/out of the area where "the pearl" is to avoid the blvd ? (a back or side road?)

There is the “sand road” that runs over to the hospital area. However, last time we were here, someone dumped a load of dirt in the roadway making it impassable. At first I thought they were going to use it to fill in the holes, but it still sits there, intentionally blocking the roadway. Someone has been driving over the mound, most likely with a truck or ATV. Don’t think it’s compressed enough for a car yet. Success...tried driving over the mound with the car on the way back from the gym. Made it!

    Thur/Fri/Sat:

Thur: After our morning routine we stopped by Azure for a tour of the property, as we thought it might be fun to check it out. From there we went to LaCabana for happy hour. Stayed there for an hour or so and then headed over to the new Beach Bar. When we arrived we found out that it was closed for a private party...another time. Decided on Peta Peta for their happy hour. Had a beverage and then returned to the condo for dinner.

Friday: Had to pickup a couple of things at the Do-It-Center for condo maintenance. They keep expanding the grocery section and their pricing is competitive. Took a ride to the Urataka Center for a late lunch/snack. Returned to the condo to change and then off to Tierra Del Sol for their Friday night happy hour. They were having a private party at the usual venue and happy hour was moved to the pool bar. It was very crowded and the bar staff was overwhelmed for the first hour. It calmed down for the second half and they served four different rounds of Hors d'oeuvres. Called it a day and headed back to the condo.

Saturday: Did a little grocery shopping at Super Foods and then decided to go to San Nicholas for the Grand Parade. It was pretty easy to find a place to park and we walked a block to get to the main route. Stood curbside and watched the last hour and a half go by. Getting out of San Nicholas took forever. It took us two hours just to get to Savaneta. We were starving, so we stopped at La Granja for dinner. By the time we finished the traffic had let up a bit so we made normal time from there. Drove through downtown, where a lot of the locals were putting the final touches on their areas for tomorrow's grand parade. They all put in a lot of effort for this event. We watched it downtown a couple of years ago, so we'll probably not return. We can now say we've done both. We'd like to see the lighting parade one trip. Finally made it back to the condo and hit the sack.

Wow, 2 hours from San Nicolas to Savaneta! That is so frustrating. I term it the "Aruban crawl". It explains how bad the traffic was in Oranjestad last night.

    Continued:

    Really not much to report.

Sunday we went back to The Glitz after the beach. The bride has been holding her own on the slots, which is a huge improvement over most trips. We stopped back at the new Beach Bar for happy hour again. Enjoyed a beverage and a panini from their kitchen. They also offer a few pre-made salads and wraps.

Monday was the same old same old. Beach, casino and then to the movies.

Tuesday: More of the same and then to the airport to pick up one of our sons, who is staying for the week. He came down last trip for a week and really enjoyed his time, so he's back for round two. Went to the tail end of happy hour at Pega Pega and then off to dinner at Mathew's. It was fairly crowded, as it was all you can eat rib night, but we were still able to get a table beach side without a reservation. Dinner and service were both very good. We consistently have a good experience there.
