    Thursday Day 16:

Another glorious day at the beach, albeit, the occasional gusts of wind with sand bites, we could have done without. Took a refresher dip in the pool afterwards, and then sat out to dry a bit.

Headed downtown to Que Pasa, for their Florins for Dollars dinner. We both had Chicken Condon Blue Cheese, and it was very good, as usual. The wife thought hers was a little over cooked.

We walked down to Bistro de Suikertuin, for happy hour and a desert for the wife. The waitress greeted us, and the door and we told her we had just stopped for a drink and a desert, so we were happy sitting at the bar. We had been there a couple of times before and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The wife asked if the whole bar was included in the happy hour and the waitress replies that happy hour is only on Friday. Now, there is a sign on the front of the building that states, daily happy hour 5-7, and the same information is given on their Facebook Page. We didn’t argue or question it, and each ordered a drink. At no time did we receive a menu to order a desert, nor did anyone ask us if we wanted another drink, after we finished the first round. We then waited twenty minutes for our check to come. I’m pretty sure we won’t be returning.

From there we stopped at Alhambra…mistake. The wife went off to play the slots and I watched the blackjack play at the tables. It was very crowded. I looked up the wife and she was up a bit…hurray! I suggested leaving, but that wasn’t happening, so I headed back to the tables. I checked on her periodically; she was headed in the wrong direction. We eventually left after a couple of hours, making another donation to the wealth of the casinos.

Back to the condo and turned in shortly afterwards.

Thanks for continuing to share your trip with us, and thanks for the heads up on Bistro de Suikertuin. I will never understand how a place stays in business with such deplorable service.

We get used to the relaxed service here on the island, and we roll with it. The false advertising is what really perturbed us.

    Friday Day 17:

Went to the Do It Center, after the gym. The wife walked the grocery isles and I looked around the rest of the store. We picked up a few items and then back to the condo.

Sat poolside for an hour or so. It was mostly cloudy, so we changed and drove to the Urataka Center for an early dinner. We got a different pizza this time; build your own.

From there we went to Price Smart and picked up a few more things.

It was almost 7:00, before we got back to the condo. We were both still full from dinner, so we sat outside for a beverage for a bit, and then stayed in and watched a movie.

Another lazy day has come and gone...

    yum
    that pizza looks wonderful.

we made 2 visits over the years to Bistro De Suiketrin.
we went there for lunch with dutch friends and it was good...friendly service and good food.
we have not been back since.

have they always been open for dinner?
when we were there I thought that they were a lunch place only.

I think they changed things up a bit awhile ago. We heard “new” owners a while back.

Yes, now open for dinner and new owners (I think last year). Hope it was just an off night because I've always thought this looks like a cool place, although I haven't been there myself yet.

We were there a few weeks ago and it had been our first visit in 4 years. The previous owner was open for breakfast and lunch. The new owner is open for lunch and dinner, however; they have a brunch on Saturday. Closed on Sunday.
