We’re at the gate “patiently” waiting. The airport is a zoo but we got through it. Tom had a hard time with the long walk to the gate And had to keep stopping. Our flight is going to be packed full. It’s the busiest I’ve ever seen in. Fortunately got a seat at the gate.

Can’t wait to get to Aruba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We’re here!!!! Have to tell you first about my brain cramp moment on the flight. They passed out the immigration cards. I always fill them out for both of us. After I’m done I realize I put Tom’s old passport no., ripped it up and got another card. As we’re about to land I check them and realize I ripped up my card! Crap, get another card, check again and realize I had Tom’s correct no. to begin with (sigh) and they let us into this beautiful country!!

Took the big yellow bus to the Ritz and got a peak at a few other hotels on the way. Our room wasn’t ready but no problem we went to the Divi Bar for lunch and then the casino. I immediately won $425 and over the next hour or so I gave it all back. I blame it on the room not being ready and the Djucu being in the luggage!!!

The Ritz is a gorgeous property and the staff top notch. They had asked if we were celebrating anything and I told our them our 37th anniversary. We were upgraded from a coastal view to a full oceanfront room when all I asked is if we could be close to the elevators! When we were shown to our room a room service person came, I remarked that I hadn’t ordered anything. She told me it was a surprise and wheeled in a bottle of champagne!! So very nice. Of course, I already had 2 glasses of wine and espresso martini so may just have to leave it on ice!!!

Looking forward to the beach tomorrow and Andrea and Paul hanging out with us at the beach. Then we’ll do our romantic celebratory dinner tomorrow night at Casa Nona.

At first I was thinking, wow, I am shocked a room wasn't ready being mid-week and not in peak season, but now it makes sense with the upgrade. This trip seems to be off to a great start once you got in the country, of course.

I was quite surprised with the upgrade given we had not stayed here before. The room is amazing and the balcony quite large and private. So far no complaints!

I am psyched for you guys. The ocean front rooms are great! The Ritz goes out of their way to make your stay amazing and by the sounds of things they are off to an amazing start!!!!! Key words - WE are celebrating our 37th anniversary with YOU, lol.
