(My Feb trip) we won’t see many of these for a while

We probably won’t see any trip reports for a while

Here are my trip highlights from February.

    2/4 arrived. 2/12/2020 headed home.

We stayed 4 nights at Club Arias in Savaneta. It’s a small B&B and we were about the only people there.
We spent 3 days at Rodgers Beach. Rodgers is near Baby Beach but only a dozen people or so around each day. We lived it.

2/5 we ate at L.G. Smith for my 55th birthday. They did not disappoint. Everything was great.

On 2/7 we snorkeled with ArubaBob. They were VERY patient with me while I tried on various masks and tried to acclimate to the water. It was very windy and rough that day, but once we got going it was amazing. You have no idea the extent of the marine activity beneath you.

On 2/8 we moved to La Cabana for 4 nights. Such the opposite from where we had been. Many people and crowded beach. But, we were able to get a Papala each day. And that sums up our days. Wake up, go to the beach, drink all day, have a few snacks, watch the sunset, go to dinner, gamble (no big wins to report), sleep, repeat.

La Cabana is great except for the rumored sewage treatment smell. It’s no rumor, it does exist. That was our only complaint about that location.

That about sums it up. We ate at a few of our favorites, Ricardos, Azzurro, Ruinas Del Mar and they were all awesome as always. We tried one new place, Sunshine Grill at Hyatt. We had a great server who took it upon herself to notice my husband had an issue with his meal (mostly how it was served; it was almost impossible to eat). He never said a word because what he did eat was very good, but she was not happy with what she saw. They comped us desert and drinks.

Im glad we were on the island when we were as we all know things have gone downhill since mid February. I’m sad for my daughter as she had literally just booked a trip to Aruba for her first adventure there with her BF when things started to get cancelled.

I feel bad not only for Aruba, but the other locations as well that depend on tourism for their livelihood.

Stay safe and germ free everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the great report it was very nice to read one. Dont hear much about Club Arias, glad you enjoyed it. Could you smell it at LaCabana or when you walked towards the smell? I only stayed at LaCabana once but walk by all the time...I had never smelled it that far down.

thank you for your Aruba Story!!

did you have pizza at Club Arias?

    Re: Sewerage Treatment
we only smell it very infrequently in laCabana parking lot, mostly our sniffers were impacted at AM's beach bar.
once we hung with friends that stayed at AM.
we floated with them in front of AM and the smell was bad.
we ended up floating down more towards LaCabana.

    we love LaCabana!

Thanks for taking the time to share your trip. Sunset Grille is one of our favorite restaurants.... and always top notch service. And...…. I'm thinking that the sewer smell will be a non issue with limited use while Aruba is shut down.

I know that the "refit " of the treatment plant is on the schedule.
In this shut down time, I wonder if it can be worked on while Aruba is closed for business.
