Enjoying your trip report and your writing style. If you get back to Superfoods look for Boterkoek. It’s a Dutch butter cake, almond based and delicious. I enjoy trying out the various Dutch products. Verkade chocolate bars are amazing.

I think you will enjoy Carte Blanche. The food is amazing and the chefs are good at keeping the conversations flowing. We had a nice group of people when we went.

Wondering if you will check out any other resorts during your stay? It’s nice to walk through a property and get a feel for the place for a future trip. You might like Manchebo. It’s a small resort right on the beach

It sounds like you are settling right in. SuperFoods has a great selection of everything. Upstairs they have housewares, pet supplies, toys and some outside furniture.

I think you misheard the population, it is more like 116,000 not 16,000.

Sounds like another good day...... I'm surprised you couldn't find a palapa on the beach at anytime there.

your posting brought an early morning smile and I have only had a few sips of coffee.

superfoods is indeed an experience. when I go in there though, I am muttering curse words under my breath and in a rage.
their parking lot sends me into a crazed beastly nut case.
I have never been like you taking the time to browse and enjoy.
    I love your attitude.

thanks for sharing and your writing style make me smile (in a good way)

Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words! Robin, thanks for that clarification on the population. Now that I have seen more of Aruba it is quite obvious there has to be far more people here than 16,000 I am sure the man I was talking to thought I was complete idiot when he said 150 of the 116,000 people are in government and I responded: "Oh wow! That's like 1% of the population!"

    Ah well, keeps me humble.

Yesterday was another amazing day in Aruba. (There's a thought for a website: AnotherAmazingDayinAruba.com). But, I slept all of four hours again. Up at 6 a.m. to nab my palapa - but the guy who hands out towels didn't arrive 'til 7 a.m. The energy on the beach so early is so peaceful. It was fun to watch the pelicans fish for breakfast. In fact, later in the day, a pelican landed *right* next to a couple from Ohio and me. The husband explained that there's a man on the beach who feeds them sardines and they follow him around. How fun is that? (Goal before vacation concludes: Grab some sardines from Super Foods and hit the beach early.)

I am enjoying all the people I'm meeting here, by the way. The couple from Ohio is just concluding a 10-day trip; they were introduced to Aruba when their son got married on the beach and have been here several times. I met another couple from Burlington, Ontario, who stopped in Aruba just prior to a month-long Windstar Cruise around the Caribbean. They were sharing with me about a program called Friendship Force or Friend Force where you can invite people from around the world to stay or dine with you - it's not like Air B&B, it's free and you just exchange. It's something I'm going to explore when I have time. It would be fun to make dinner for some international travelers. Speaking of which, that's what Carte Blanche does most days of the week (where I met the Ontario couple.) It was, hands-down, the best dining experience ever. Sublime, nuanced flavor in every dish - and I did the wine pairing, too. Demasiado Divertido! It's like performance-cooking as well, because they fix every dish in front of the guests. Talk about pressure! Having to be "on" for hours on end and produce a spectacular meal on top of it. They earn their money, and it is very much worth the price of admission.

By the time I returned home, I knew I was going to have a deep, long sleep - and I was right. It's wonderful to awake another day in Aruba. Right now, sitting on my veranda sipping coffee and typing this. Just doesn't get better! Aruba is definitely a favorite destination!

Thank you so much for sharing your stay with us.
I do not think that I have ever read a bad or mediocre review of Carte Blanche.

    Enjoy and thank you!

The pelicans don’t seem to care how near they are to people when they go into their dive. A few years ago one dropped his fish; it was tiny thankfully, as it landed on my back!
