I had no idea they were in the jellyfish family, but that TOTALLY makes sense with the reaction I'm having! Ugh, it's so itchy burny stingy ouchie.

Today is our "lazy day" We rolled out of the Airbnb around 10:30am, and went to do some snorkeling at Boca Catalina (AWAY FROM THE ROPES!). We also sat on the beach for a bit and did nothing. See? We do know how to do nothing sometimes!

Oh! I will send Andrea a picture of me having a Balashi in front of the owner of Balashi's house. His GIANT house. I mean, since I have drank as many Balashis as I have this week, I practically own that mansion, so....

We are at Arashi now, enjoying a drink at the beach shack. Not sure what else we will do yet today, but stay tuned!

Excuse me, but not sure what else you're supposed to be doing today? You're supposed to be tracking down those elusive Slippery Monkeys! Get on it and stop goofing off. Geez, you're so lazy...

a few years ago we brushed up against the ropes at Boca Catalina beach and we were stung.
    it was brutal.
we were with a gentleman who had been swimming from Catalina cove to Boca Catalina beach and he stopped and we were talking and leaning against the ropes.
    OMG it was horrible.

    Phrogg.....anything but hot water!!!
the creatures are in the family of microscopic jellyfish.
Someone on a snorkel trip told us it is a form of fire coral. Don't know if that's true, but I stay far away from the ropes, snorkeling or swimming along the beach.

    Walt and others

this article was pointed in my direction a few years ago when we were stung by these little creatures often referred to as sea lice.
they love to hide in the ropes and bathing suits too

Lol! Well, unfortunately, the sea lice/rope creatures/tiny specks from h*ll won out today. I feel like garbage and since I managed to drag the outside of my left foot on the rope too, I can barely walk. Ugh. Plus, I didn't get enough sunscreen on my person, so I'm fighting with that too. See what happens when I brag about causing general mayhem? Aruba slaps back! Hahahaha!

We spent a few hours at Arashi just sitting there. We then got back to the AirBnb, swam a little - actually i just needed the cold water - and then got dressed to go back up towards the lighthouse and Dunes Beach. We got some obligatory pictures and video of the rough surf and my hubs got some pictures of Pelicans dive bombing fish.

We decided to try Smokey Joe's for dinner. Boy, was that underwhelming. That's all I will say for now in case others enjoy it. We were not terribly impressed, but that might be because I feel like carp (typo on purpose ). We tried to walk to some of the souvenir stores, but I really didn't do well, so we turned around and headed back. About to get in the pool now for another cool down.

These sea lice can take a flying leap...

We get sea lice here when the ocean water gets hot. They itch like hell, but it's not a stinging sensation.

phrogg, you need a day of rest. Maybe just hang out by your pool tomorrow. The beer will still taste as good!

No fun to feel lousy when you’re in Aruba. Do you have anything to help with the itching/discomfort? Maybe time for a trip to the pharmacy? Feel better!!
