A $1500 anniversary "gift" is a nice start to your vacation! I'm glad they didn't pay you in pennies.

    Friday Beach Day

Today was a beach day, nothing more nothing less. I was awake at 4 so I decided to get a good spot at the beach, centrally located, good view. I didnt have to gi that early, but I was awake so why sit in the room, you know? The Playa Linda beach goers take their chickees (aka palapas) seriously. At 4am we were 2nd row. Later I realized a group of men were saving spots for their later arriving friends so I could have been up front if I cared to press the issue. We had a good view with no one directly in front of us so I didn't really care. I love watching the beach wake up in the morning. It's so peaceful. Jon came down to join me as the sun was coming up. I ran back up to the room and missed a confrontation over spots. Jon said a guy moved someone's towels because he had been watching the spot for a while and no one was there. A friend of the missing person tried to stop the new guy but ultimately just took their friends towels and left the situation alone. I was kind of hoping to see the interaction when 1st guy came back, but we missed it - gotta love a little ridiculous drama once in a while...lol.

We tried the little Greek place Kouzina for breakfast. I love everything about their menu and we need to get back there for lunch. We indulged in steak, egg, and cheese bagels. They were really good and filling. This is a nice addition to the beach. The staff was very friendly. They are open most days from 8-3:30, closed Sundays. We planned to go back for lunch, but were not hungry so maybe later this week.

We spent all day on the beach. The weather and water were perfect!!! We put a huge dent in our duty free purchase. Drink of the day was Titos with water and Mio flavoring brought from home. I had orange, Jon had berry. These are tasty, and less calories than other mixers.

We came up from the beach and did happy hour with music on our amazing balcony.

Since we skipped lunch, we were ready for an early dinner. It was Jon's choice and I'm shocked he did not pick Tango - he always picks Tango. But we ended up at La Petite Cafe. We have dined here before. Service was much improved from our last visit. We both ordered tenderloin and lobster cooked on the hot stone. It was good, not the best flavoring on the steak but a nice tender cut.
After dinner we decided to make it an early night...translation we drank too much in the sun and with full bellies we were ready for bed.
Today we snorkel and pick up our jeep.

One more notable thing from yesterday, the amount of beach trash is disturbing. We picked up plastic and styrofoam cups all day. I am happy to see the new one time use bans going in place. People are terrible, there are trash cans everywhere.

That’s awful about the trash. It’s funny but I commented to Tom on our first day how clean the sand was. I haven’t seen any raking of the beach going on but it looks good here. People need to stop and think!

    Happy Anniv and great win!

The Palapa hoggers always cracks me up! I think as the years go bye, the situation will only get worst and resorts are gonna have to come up with a better plan to Manage these huts and avoid any confrontations. Maybe use a lottery system or something I dunno.

I would think getting up at 4:00 would make every night an early night. Thanks for sharing your days!

Haha!! Yep, that's our schedule at home too, old habits die hard. Jon is actually at work by 3am every day. I leave home around 530 so it's hard for us to adjust to anything other than early.
