Wow. Time is really flying by this trip and I haven’t been keeping up w my report.

Crimms - 4 am to score a front row. By 4:15 they are all taken. Lots of empty ones all day 3rd row and back, so no real need to rise early. For me, I’m awake anyway and I enjoy my morning beach ritual, so I do it.

Days 6 and 7 kind of blend together and they are all the same anyway so I’ll just share the highlights. We have been getting the breakfast club sandwich from Kouzinas many mornings. It is amazing - really, my favorite breakfast sandwich anywhere. It comes with a Greek iced coffee (also yummy) for $7. One day, GF and I tried the tuna poke bowl from Eduardo’s. It was amazing - as with everything at Eduardo’s, the quality and freshness of their ingredients is top notch.

Thursday was dinner at Oak. It is well deserving of the favorable reviews. It is also true (as noted in many reviews) that they have issues with their reservation system. I experienced confusion when making reservations via email as 2 different people responded with different confirmations. We went early and fortunately they had us down for 6 pm and there was only one other table occupied. We were offered indoor or outdoor seating and we chose outdoor. Had we shown up at 7 pm as my 2nd email confirmation stayed, we would have been turned away, as we watched happen to 2 other groups. Another large group came and they had set up inside for them. The group was adamant that they specifically reserved outdoor seating and made them set it up. We would choose to sit inside next time as they are dogs next door that barked the whole time. Onto the good - food and service were impeccable. We started with apps of steamed mussels/clams and escargot. I had the coconut shrimp which were huge and seasoned perfectly. Came with rice and veggies. GF had lobster pasta - it was good but not as good as my shrimp or the peppercorn steak that both guys had. It was also cooked and seasoned perfectly with roasted potatoes and veggies. They feature Josh as their house wine but we gals opted for a bottle of Santa Margherita PG. guys had mixed drinks. For dessert we shared the coconut flan and key lime pie. All was amazing and although I can’t recall the total bill, we all agreed it was reasonable. We were back at PL by 8 pm. We had hoped to go out this night but we were all too full so opted to just hang around on the balcony and called it an early night.

Friday, more of the same. It was overcast most of the day which actually felt nice. I only got in the water once today, aside from pool aerobics. Fish sandwiches from Pelican for lunch. Lots of brights and then up to the pool for frozen happy hour drinks before heading up to room to cleanup for dinner. It was our friends’ last night and they wanted Iguana Cantina, so we obliged. We wouldn’t choose to eat there but they love it and it was fine for a casual night.

Before dinner we stopped out front for the Mother’s Day Bazaar, about a dozen local artisans with some really unique and beautiful items. Our friend Claudia was there with her clothing line and sold nearly everything in the first hour. We are having dinner with her next week and she is going to make me a wrap. Gaby from Aruba hands was also there and made me a gorgeous ring. I’ll try to post it later. I also bought a cute little bracelet.

After dinner we walked down the the ILA store so GF could pick up some souvenirs. I also picked up a cute hat for my grandson. Came back to PL and took a bottle of wine down to the jacuzzi. Soaked for 20-30 mins then called it another early night.

Our friends are leaving today. The week flew by and I can’t believe our trip is half over. Feel like we just got here.

The early rising for palapas is what hubby does as he is a very early riser. We never want front row anyway. The Greek restaurant is one of my favs for breakfast. They are so nice there and good food. We had wonderful food at The Oak last year and look forward to returning. We eat early and had no problem. I did make a reservation at home before we left. Do you know when the 1 bedrooms will be getting new furniture? I have yet to see a date on this. Continue to enjoy your trip and keep us posted. Happy Mother’s Day.

Day 8- Saturday. Up early for my favorite palapa. Hubs actually came down early and we shared the breakfast club. GF came down for a couple hours before they departed. Bully picked them up at 12:30. They reported that the airport lines were longer than they had ever seen them. Took them just over 2.5 hours to get to the gate. Hubs and I hung on the beach. Had lunch out front at Dushi Bagel - burger for him and crab salad wrap for me. It was yummy. If you like cole slaw, you really need to try theirs - it’s amazing. Returned to beach for a few frozen cocktails. After cleaning up, we headed across the street and just wandered around for a couple hours. Neither of us were very hungry and we ended up returning to the room and picking on leftovers before bed.

Day 9 - Sunday - Happy Mother’s Day! I slept in til 6 today as we had plans to go hang at SC with Walt and Pam, plus we were changing rooms and needed to pack up. I threw away so many leftovers - such a sin, but knew we weren’t going to eat it. I realized as I was packing up that I again brought about 10x as many clothes as I needed. I don’t know when I’m going to learn!

Went to Chicken and Lobster for breakfast. Their bacon is yummy! Hubs had the chicken and waffles and didn’t care for it. The waffle was too sweet and the chicken was mostly breading. Returned to the room and learned that our new room, just across the hall from our 2 br, was vacant so we asked if we could get in early. They obliged, and we were all moved and settled by 10 am. I mixed up some drinks and we headed down to SC. Very overcast and gusty today, didn’t even want to be in the water as I actually had goosebumps. Pretty sure I caught Walt shivering at one point. Played bingo and I won the jackpot!!! We celebrated with a few happy hour drinks then Pam and I floated in the lazy river once the sun peeked out for a few minutes. We made plans to go to dinner at Bavaria at 7 and hubs and I headed “home” to clean up. Walt picked us up and we arrived at Bavaria to find it is closed on Sundays, as are most of the restaurants on that road. Fortunately Bingo was open so we stopped there. We all enjoyed our dinners, although it took a good while to get them. The 3 GoT fans were sweating that they were going to miss their show but we made it back in plenty of time. We are in Walt and Pam’s room, the three of them glued to the TV. Good time for me to catch up on my report. Lol.

Great day spent with good friends!

I'm so happy to hear that Claudia is doing well making her clothing. She was always such a nice smiling face at the beach bar, we wish her much success. Good tip about the greek place, we haven't tried it yet. Dushi bagels is a regular stop for us but I never knew about the coleslaw, I will have to try it. Thanks so much for your report - love learning new things and enjoy familiar places through the stories of others.

Oh, I hope you make it back to Bavaria. We had such a nice meal there with Andrea and Paul. Love that they had white asparagus!
