    Trip #7

This is going to be basically one of those "rinse and repeat" reports with a few exceptions. Jet Blue flight from Boston uneventful - just the way we like it. Took Lyft for the first time to the airport and loved it! 1/3 of the price of the cab and the driver was excellent. Sailed right through security as we were TSA Approved - love that! Gate area was too small for the size of the plane. Flight was smooth although could not sleep. 6am flight seemed like a good idea when I booked it! Arrived in Aruba right on time and sailed through immigration. I had done the online form. Luggage took a few minutes and then hopped in a taxi to the Divi AI. Time from landing to checking in - 30 minutes. Our room wasn't ready as it was only 11:15 so we changed into our bathing suits and hit the bar! Basically that was our week, get up, eat, sit on our lounge chairs, drink, eat and float on pool noodles in the ocean, nap, shower and change for dinner, eat and drink and go to bed - repeat. The entertainment at the Divi was great this year. Mostly just duos, trios, singing etc with a few local shows thrown in for local color. Sunsets were amazing! Met lots of great people mostly from the Boston area where we are from, but some from other places also. Did our annual Jolly Pirate trip which was fun. They have an added attraction of kite surfers who put on a show for the boat - amazing! One of the pirates handed me a rum punch and told me to hold it out. One of the guys came back, took the cup, drank it, did a few flips and returned the empty cup to me. Also saw my first sea turtles float by as we were heading out! A sea turtle also nested right outside of the Red Parrot one night. We had just returned to our room and missed it - rats! Some of our new friends told us about it in the morning. Only other "event" was the power outage our last night there. It started about 7pm and went off and on all night. We had reservations at Pure Lime but they had no power. The buffet right next door did so we ate there. I guess you call it a "brown" out as some areas had lights and others did not. Blenders went on and off with the lights but we managed!! We went over to the Casino and half the place had lights while the other didn't. Some areas had no A/C either. We went to our room about 11 and had a "disco night" with flashing lights for a few hours. The only downside to that was the A/C would switch off and we would have to get up and hit the reset button each time! Sadly the next day was time to head home. We had a 4:40 pm flight to Boston so we checked out and got our temporary bracelets so we could have lunch and a few beverages before heading to the airport! Once again, sailed through check-in, immigration, etc and at the gate in plenty of time. Flight home was uneventful and got to watch two moves (A Star is Born and One the Basis of Sex) and highly recommend both! Did Uber home from the airport and had great success with that also. Came home to a cold and rainy Massachusetts where the month of April had 21 out of 30 days of rain!! Take me back to Aruba! To all of you there now or heading out, enjoy!!

Wow, it really does go by so fast. Seems like you just got there. Sorry you missed the sea turtle nesting that would have been something. We have yet to have the opportunity to see either a nesting or hatching.

Thank you you for sharing your trip report with us!

The weather here in Boston has been damp, chilly and dreary since I returned from Aruba on April 5th. Hopefully May will be sunny and warm, although it is not off to a good start.

Glad you had a great time and relaxed. Friends of mine have been at Divi AI since Saturday. Did you perchance cross paths with a Sean and Sandra with Irish accents?

Always enjoy reading great reports from my favorite place, Divi AI. So happy you finally made it back. Do you know if Anita the lady who makes the pancakes/french toast is still there, I know she tried to retire but was called back last year part time. I always bring her a gift so was just wondering Hopefully some year we can meet at the time same at Divi

your vacation to paradise certainly sped by.
NEXT time check with some of us on your dates to see if we can overlap!

sorry you had to deal with blackouts.
the whole island was restored before dawn, but it happened again 2 nights later, but more scattered.

thanks for sharing your Aruba story

Thanks for sharing your trip. Seeing the turtle must have been so cool. I've never seen them in Aruba. Trips always go so fast.

Thank you for your trip report, for those of us stuck in rainy New England it was a breath of sunshine.

We did not meet them, but would have loved to! This weather has been dreadful. Looks like we might have some improvement next week. Missing Aruba so much!
