Dinner at Manchebo, Ike’s or Chophouse? We always have breakfast at Ike’s but for some reason haven’t gone for dinner. We have stopped in for dessert though. Just curious what your thoughts were if you were at Ike’s.

    Enjoy the beach!!

Have a fun trip, I envy people who arrive around noon. sounds like you just beat the rush of people arriving. Have fun planning your dinners and enjoying the beach, I am wish you in my mind. I agree with you, always hard to concentrate on work days before Aruba just too excited.

Sitting on the beach with some Palapa thoughts on the Hilton.

The hotel allows you to book palapas in advance via their online app for a fee. Current rates are $45 “middle”, $50 “front.”

You can reserve a free palapa in the back two rows either on the app or at the towel hut the day before at 4 pm. The free palapas must be claimed by 10 and the paid ones by 12.

I’ve had no trouble with the app so far. (FREE)

The palapas are practically on top of each other. From my palapa, I could touch the palms on the palapa in front of me.

I don’t see the value in paying for one but I could understand someone not having to worry about getting one. The system can be overwhelming to some and I get it.

I’m of the opinion that they shouldn’t be charging for palapas. They recently increased the prices of palapas and where it stands is insane. But with the associated worries of having one, there are people willing to pay. At least they have still have the option to book free ones. I really don’t care where I am on the beach, as long as I’m on the beach!

Are you at the Hilton or Oceana now?

The Palapa thing is mind boggling.

I move to Oceania on Wednesday. As I was having dinner last night at chophouse I got a small glimpse of the Manchebo property. Unfortunately, it was after sunset by the time I finished so I couldn’t walk around to see much. I am eyeing Manchebo for the next trip!

If you get back.... don't hesitate to ask to see a room. Nicely appointed, renovated a few years ago, and clean.... but not luxurious!
