Great trip report! Thank you for posting. I missed finding Gaby this trip. Forgot where to find her. We were at the Marriott but were walking around everywhere. We had our friends with us most of the trip so it wasn’t a big priority.

Yesterday, Monday, four of us went to baby Beach for the day. It was a little crowded but still nice. We split a cabana so we could get some shade if needed and brought drinks and snacks with us. We met a couple from Ohio who were here in Aruba for the first time. They are staying in studio style Airbnb not far from super food. They said it’s a really nice place with a little pool and they are paying $95 a night. They said they were enjoying their stay so far but having a little trouble navigating so I suggested they use MapsMe instead of Google Maps and they were going to try that.

Last night’s dinner was hotdogs brought in from New York by my buffalo friends and then we headed up to the high rise area and the three of them had some gelato for dessert.

Tuesday morning I spent a couple hours in my room doing some work and then headed down to a little pool. We went across the street to the Tam and I ended up buying three tops for half off, and one top at full price in the gift shop. We had the owners cocktail party and then we were heading downtown because we had reservations at Taste My Aruba.

The road heading into downtown was blocked off at the roundabout so we headed up to the round about by Ling and Sons. That was the beginning of the end. We got trapped in stand still bumper-to-bumper traffic. We later found out there was a road race. Luckily, I wasn’t driving because I would’ve been pulled off to the side of the road Having a little panic attack lol.

Steve Was able to finally get us back to the Ling and Sons roundabout. I had thought if we could get to the Boulevard we could go behind Oranjestad and come out by the airport and come into town the other way, But the Boulevard was at a stand still to. I imagine it’s because the roundabouts are all blocked up with people trying to go into the traffic jam.

we ended up going to Bingo for dinner and the three of us had a very good meal there. I had the potato mustard soup, and the mushroom appetizer and the Keshi Yena appetizer. I ate most of my soup and Keshi, and I took the mushrooms home and I’m planning to eat them like the last bit of my El Gaucho steak. My friends split the potato soup, she had the lamb stew and he had the bacon wrapped fillet that was on special and they both very much enjoyed their meals. They were extremely generous and picked up the tab even though I protested and offered a few times to pay my own. My friends here are so good and kind to me.

I was hoping to be able to get to taste my Aruba this evening, but they are closed for a private party. Maybe I can get there for lunch or dinner on Friday. I have my spa appointments tomorrow morning and we have Madame Janette reservations tomorrow evening so Thursday is out.

It is looking like today will be a pool day. Not sure what I am doing tonight. I should be in my room eating the rest of my steak and mushrooms lol

Steak and mushrooms a nice combo! When I was doing low carb and did not want to have a salad with my steak I saw some mushrooms on sale at supermarket and that's what I had. Enjoy...

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Hi Laura,

I have read your trip reports, then read them again. In all honesty, you make us feel like we are all there with you. Well written, descriptive and it sounds like you're having a whole lot of fun.

The photos you took of your meals are brochure-quality shots. Glad you enjoyed El Gaucho. I love it there but I do not, I repeat, I do not eat salad at El Gaucho. It's just wrong on so many levels. Lol. I think you know I have warped sense of humour.

Enjoy the remainder of your vacation and please carry on with your trip reports. I love them.

Thank you Glenn, and everyone for the kind words. I was out at the pool this morning, but then this Bing cloud started heading our way. I never know if they’re going to come over us are around us so I came up to the room for a little bit. It looks like this one might be going around so I’ll be back down there shortly.
