I was the first one there. In and out in just over an hour. Nice waiting room. Since it was the first service, it was free and they washed the car, which I had planned on getting done later in the week. It is interesting that Honda is now bringing in models that are not in the US. We did not see those models last year.

Seems like all manufacturers have models in Aruba that aren't available in the US.. Pretty often these are models that are popular in other countries but don't meet our safety standard.

    Excellent.

We are staying back in a complex back behind Screaming Eagle.

Glad to hear the beach is doing good - we will be down for our 12th time this year.

Yesterday I had the car serviced, then picked up some items at the restaurant store, hung out in the condo and then went to the pool after lunch. It is so quiet here this week. After dinner, I spoke to a friend at home and watched tv. Today I walked 4.6 mile, read for awhile, took care of somethings in the condo and eventually had lunch then finally a shower. A quick trip to Superfoods turned ended up taking longer because they had the road from Irausquin to the circle by Superfoods closed. Dinner was at Local Store because I wanted a burger and their burgers are the best. Hubby had garlic parm wings and I had black and blue(without bacon) and fungi fried with gouda. Sooo good. Just hanging out and taking care of some paperwork from home.

Saturday was a beach day. Just read and hung out and a dip or two in the water. Made dinner and did some laundry in the pm. Sunday I went for a walk, we did some cleaning, and then walked to Glitz to use the ATM, but it had limits on the amount you could take out, so we went to the one at the Trop casino and it was not working. After lunch we hung out at the pool-it has been so quiet the past week and it looks like it will be this week too. They had about 4 inches of snow at home and people were posting snow pictures on FB. So I took a few pictures of the "white stuff" here and posted my "white stuff" pictures. I need to see if I have a sand shovel here, so next time I can post "shoveling the white stuff". Headed in around 5, did a lot of laundry, watched the game, had sandwiches for dinner, talked with our older son and his girlfriend-they had lots of snow in DC.

I'm right there with your son, and thankful for a snow day to spend looking for deals for trips! For those who are used to lots of snow, DC is not and our temps rise during the day and fall at night sky we will have a week of melting and refreezing every morning - ice sucks. Thanks for your report Robin. I will take your white stuff and shoveling over ours any day!
    Always planning our next trip

Life in Aruba is always an adventure. Monday afternoon we decided to run errands. Taking the back roads to Price Smart was not smart(but we were out that way at the bank). The traffic was awful. There are road closures in different areas and I think everyone was using the same roads. We hit Price Smart, Flora, Island Asia, DoIt and then went to get the new orange plates for the car. Pulling in and finding parking was a zoo. We finally find an actual parking spot and head over the the buildings that are giving out the plates. One is for people over 60 with outdoor seating (we're not there yet) and the rest of us were at a different building where you waited in line under tents. We got there at the right time-we only waited about 30 minutes to get into the building and 10 inside. The line got much longer as we were waiting. One person said a relative waited many hours to get their plates. With the bright orange plates it'll be very easy to see who as not registered their car. Jan. 31 is the deadline. We had dinner at home watching the sunset.

Today we headed out to take care of some other things-drop some stuff off to the realtor, the restaurant store and then Lings. So the back road to Lings is closed and they detour you up a dirt road. There is a sign that says to go straight at the intersection of another dirt road, but a bunch of people were turning and hubby says to follow them. Well, that dirt road came to an end at the new highway-partly paved. So I follow the cars and we drive on the new highway until it ends and then we have to turn back around again and follow it in the other direction, between orange roadblocks into a roundabout(not sure where we were) and head to my right, where we then see another arrow taking us back toward Lings on another dirt road. However, there is no sign pointing you to Lings, so we ended up next to where they are building the new AMC Unicon. We follow that road, cut through Crown and end up at the current entrance to Lings. Leaving was worse. We drove in circles for awhile(as did some other people) but finally found a way to Smith. I think they are missing some signs. There are arrows on orange barriers showing you how to get into the store, but none showing you how to leave. I think you can go out the way you come in from Smith, but since the arrows are only pointing in one direction, we didn't want to take the chance it was one way. I guess I'll have to go in from Smith and see. The map above only shows how to get there-not leave. Later we are going out to pay our car insurance. I hope I don't get lost like last time-it's in a neighborhood down the street from Aruba Aloe Factory and I believe that they are closing some road there next week. The new highway will probably be great, but right now, getting around can be challenging.

We love reading your day to day errands in Aruba. We really appreciate the Lings traffic update. At least we know what to look out for. Sounds like you guys fell into a nice little routine. Thanks for the reports.
