    Talking Trip Report January 6-April 1, 2020

8 days out! I'm so happy I could cry.

Our suitcase that go under the plane are packed(minus the toothpaste that will go in the morning of at the airport hotel).

My 2 carryons are packed except for what I need right now-like my glasses, a few meds, my physical therapy equipment and my electronics which I am using. If the suitcases are too heavy, I do have room to move some stuff to my carryons. Stu only has one and it will be fully packed.

The hotel at PHL Fairfield Inn has been booked with points for some time.

Currently our flight is less than 75% full and right now, we both have aisle seats with no one next to us. I hope it stays that way.

Thursday I get my mani, pedi and hair done, then a get a steroid shot under ultrasound in my shoulder-hopefully it will knock out the rest of the tendonitis.

    Friday-chiropractor.

Sunday night-dinner out with David and then he drops us off at the hotel. Ana and Paul will call us there and tell us all about their trip to Aruba(they return late tonight to Chicago and he works tomorrow).

    Monday-Aruba bound!!!!!

I hope that the shot gives you some relief from the tendonitis.

Are you planning on taking a class while in Aruba?.....mosaic or something else?

Looking forward to your story of your 3+ month adventures.

Thanks Andrea! I had a shot in November and it helped, but not has much as I had hoped. The PT is working but again, it is taking longer than I had hoped. I'm much better, but I still have a way to go, so hopefully this shot will do it.

I do plan on taking a mosaic class again. I am bringing a small Lazy Suzan and a wooden board to work on. I may bring one more if I have space. On the board, I'd like to do a deep blue vase with sunflowers and just simple mandala design on the Lazy Susan. The other board is long and narrow and I'd like to do our last name and the year we were married, but that might have to wait. I did buy stuff to mosaics at home, however; once I hurt my shoulder, I didn't feel like working on it.

I also want to get some advice at the class on a larger project I want to do at home. I had gone into the local ReStore to see if they had tile to so some small mosaic projects at home. Anyway, I picked out a whole bunch of one of a kind 12x12 glass mosaic tiles for $1.00 each(about $15 a piece in the store) and on my way to the register, I saw an end table(or it could have been from some type of office). It's probably from the 1950s or earlier. It is square(22x22), two tier, on small brass(?) casters, and is recessed in to fit a piece of glass on the top tier and the glass is the same thickness as tile. It is finished in a dark cherry or mahogany finish(the finish needs sanded and re-stained or painted). It must be completely put together with dowels because there are no screws or nails except for tiny ones holding the casters on. It was tagged at $30. I thought it would be great to refinish it and do a mosaic on the top. I took it to the register to find out that the color sticker meant it was 75% off-so $7.50. Now that I have this sturdy table with fluted legs, I'm not sure where to begin so going to the class will help me figure out the steps-do I have to refinish it first or do the mosaic first? Should I stain or paint? Can I glue right on the finish or do I have to prep it first and if so how? What should I use-glue, thin set, something else? Should I try to a mosaic on the second tier, too? What time of mosaic works best-a mandala? a picture? something else? So, I do need this class.

Two days!!!! Four things left to pack-passport, laptop, kindle, glasses. Stu has a cold and I am hoping he does not spread it to me or worse my son who starts a new job this week as an EMT. It has been rainy, and dark and I am looking forward warmth and sunshine. I had a shot in shoulder(directly into the bursa under ultrasound) and it is really helping and I am bring my PT equipment with me so hopefully it'll be 100% soon. It has been a difficult 6-7 months for me as I lost some people who were very special to me, selling the shore condo, resigning and leaving an organization I loved, and seeing the chicken farm I lived on when I was a kid being cleared and a Tractor Supply store will probably be built by the time I get back(my aunt and uncle had the adjacent property and both are being used-about 13 acres total). I can't wait to be back in Aruba.

Always sad to see the old homestead property fall to progress and become something else..... like a dreaded big box store.... Enjoy the trip.
