    Trip Update 4/23-5/8

Good morning from Palm Beach! Sorry I have been remiss in posting. I’ll just provide a quick update and observations of first 3 days.

Travel Saturday was smooth. Arrived few minutes early and through customs within 10 mins. They were randomly scanning luggage and Darrin and I were called out. I told the agent I had a medical item in my carryon that couldn’t go through X-ray. She asked what it was and when I told her she insisted to put it through. I insisted not and offered to show her vendors warnings. I thought we would need to get supervisor involved as she was very argumentative but she ended up backing down. Funny thing is as bags were going through X-ray the agent who was supposed to be examining was on her phone! Anywho….

Car rental from Tropic - efficient as usual.

Our timeshare weeks run Sun - Sun. We chose to arrive Saturday and booked one night at the Courtyard. I wasn’t sure what to expect but knew it would be sufficient as a Marriott property. Very pleasantly surprised! The pool area and service were amazing and rooms were updated and clean. Would definitely stay here again for a night or two. Not longer due to its location off the beach. But we really enjoyed their pool area so it was a good trade.

Moved to Playa Linda Sunday. We are renting a 1br on 1st floor this week. I usually prefer high floor but have to say the convenience of this room location and no elevators has me reconsidering. Rooms have been updated since our last visit in 2019 (still hard to believe).

I won’t recap each day and meal - just notes or highlights:

Island is very very busy. Our beach is full, as are the stores and restaurants. Weather has been mostly overcast which is good for easing into the suntan. The water seems colder than usual but I’m not sure if it really is. The Palm Beach intersection/roundabout construction situation -argh!!

We did try the new North End Grill Sun night. We had sandwiches and loved it. The pizzas looked amazing and we decided we will go back later this week to try one. Nothing notable at other restaurants so far - all good as usual.

Walt and Pam stopped by yesterday. So great to see them and we look forward to spending more time through the trip. Last night we had dinner with a local friend. We sat at the restaurant catching up for over 3 hours. 3 years of catching up…it was great to see her, as well as our PL friends.

FYI - for those of you that are fans of Gaby’s sea glass jewelry, Claudia’s beach attire, driftwood art and those house pics in a shadow box where u can look inside doors/windows (sorry name escapes me), you can find them all at The Atelier in Palm Beach Mall. It’s a glass standalone shop located under the movie theatre escalators. There are 7 local artisans… please consider visiting and supporting their beautiful work!

Any questions, ask away. Otherwise I’ll update every few days or whenever anything exciting happens (not likely, we are boring beach people).

It’s so nice to see you posting a trip report! I’m sure you are both thrilled to return. That interaction over the x-raying of bags would have made me a little anxious. Glad the agent backed down.

I’m making note of the shop you mentioned as I want to get another one of the shadow boxes.

    ‘Enjoy the beach!!!!

Thank You for the Palm Beach updates in your trip report.
So glad you gave us a place to shop for local artisan items...The Atelier in Palm Beach Mall.
Will plan to support them when we get back down there. I hope they are there to stay.

So glad you are having a great time. I want to go to Gabys in September. I get confused with which mall is which. Lol. How far is Palm Beach mall from the Marriott? Or is it closer to holiday inn? Thank you! Keep having fun.

We saw Gaby there last month. It’s at the Paseo Herenchia Mall ( not sure of spelling ). It’s been 3 yrs. since I’ve seen her and she hugged me like an old friend. I bought a few things that afternoon (Monday) and asked her to make me a few more things. We went to the Divi Tam 2 days later to see her and she had my order ready for me! A beautiful bracelet and 2 pendants. I just love her and her jewelry.

OK thank you. I will make a note. That mall is near the Marriott and we always like to walk after a big dinner. Lol.
