    Putting On The...

We decided to try the "Divi Lounge and Restaurant" at the Ritz as I haven't had sushi in an excruciatingly long time. To be honest, I think there are two kinds of sushi restaurants (after eating in a disturbing number of them): good/passable and spectacular with rarely anything in-between. And a bad sushi restaurant closes within hours: nobody wants questionable raw fish. Also, The Spouse hates seafood and there was a burger on the menu. Win-win.

It was good/passable. It's located on the terrace outside the main lobby - we saw a constant parade of people in flip-flops, swimwear and lugging around pool toys #Ambience.

The service was excellent and the sushi was passable: nothing spectacular; The Spouse said the burger was quite good. But the cocktails... in particular, my mango daiquiri was hilariously presented: a vision rising through a dome smoke chamber. I'm not kidding you:

I had a Madam Janette roll (yes, I was clenching my teeth after being reminded of our terrible experience at MJs restaurant when we first came to the island back in Ye Olden Days):

    And the burger:

I'm not going to bother writing this place up in Culinary as, at best, it's okay for a quick stop/cocktail/snack.

And, never forgetting it's the Ritz... it ain't cheap. As one friend described it, "Lipstick on a Marriott".

I don’t often crave sushi and Tom would never even try it. That said. Have you tried the sushi bar that’s inside the Chophouse at Manchebo? Whenever we’ve dined at the Chophouse the sushi bar always looked busy

Thanks, Peg. We haven't tried that yet and might give it a go.

On a related note, we went to the Chophouse pre-pandemic and liked it (for the most part) but the piano player was REALLY loud so not sure we'd return.

We're Chophouse fans..... but always request away from the piano guy. Also always request a 4 top table for the two of us..... those little 2 seaters are usually one of us facing the wall!
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!

Our favorite Sushi spot is Tatami...they have a website on Facebook I think. In the vacinity of the Wendy's on the boulevard. Easy to find. Very small so make a reservation or do take away. They offer Ramen noodles with chicken or tenderloin, as well as one chicken dish and one tenderloin dish for the spouse.

(or he could skip the main and go right to the fried ice cream!)

Friends stayed at the Ritz and definitely felt like it wasn't worth the price tag and were happier at the Marriott Stellaris. I've heard once you stay at the Ritz in Paris, the expectations are set much higher.

Peg, I wanted to try the sushi at the Chophouse and completed forgot about it. Thanks for the mention. We need another low rise stay, its so much more convenient. We seem to stick to the area we are staying during the evenings.
The best trip is the next trip. Anxiously waiting to book something.

Have you gotten any of the sushi rolls from Azia? We had a good one there but I can't remember which one it was now.
