Anyone been to either of these places?

Good morning,

Caribbean Journal's headline article yesterday was a feature about adults-only hotels, specifically it listed 11 such places throughout the Caribbean.

Two of the eleven are in Aruba; Bucuti Beach and the Renaissance Marina Hotel. Has anyone stayed, or has considered staying at either of these two places?

My only problem is that even at 68 (69 tomorrow), I still haven't developed that all-important skill, the casual glance. Is that TMI? We'll probably stick with Sunset Beach Studios.

Still, I'd like to know if anyone has stayed there.

We’ve stayed at the Bucuti. People just love it there. We didn’t care for it. The good would be the beautiful beach and decent rooms. The not so great would be the price, the small pool and the restaurant Elements (not our taste). It is also quiet to the extreme. No music at the beach bar, except the occasional steel drum in the evening. Plus their very strict cancellation policy. Pay in full 30 days prior and not refundable.

We’ve stayed at the Renaissance but on the ocean suites side which is for families. The Marina side overlooks downtown.

Closest we've come is eating at Elements which we enjoy each time...... So..... Happy Birthday for tomorrow!

We have stayed at the rennaissance and loved it. But it is not totally adults only. The adult only section is not on the oceanside it is at the main hotel across the street and the pool is adults only at that location. They also have a private island that is fun to go to and they have one side for adults only and the other for families. We have stayed both in the adults only section and also the family rooms so we could have an ocean front suite. The pool and man made lake area in the family section is large enough that kids have not been an issue. We prefer the oceanfront suites on the family side. Regarding Buciti we have not stayed there but love Elements.

We stayed at Renaissance marina our first time to Aruba. It was okay, but we prefer the excitement of Palm Beach... Happy Birthday!

we stayed at Renaissance Marina and liked it.
we stayed at the Bucuti probably 20 yrs ago, liked it, did not love it.
I am sure things changed MUCH in 20 yrs.

another child free resort is WONDERS and the gets great reviews.
it is downtown and not on the beach

We stayed at the Ren marina side 8 or 10 years ago. Overall, we did not care for it. The room overlooked the marina and the view was great. The room was also small compared to the Oceanside, which we like. The biggest issue we had with the Marina side is that the rooms do not have refrigerators.

Paul insists that the Bucuti was named something different when we stayed there
anyone know what the former name was?
He thinks it was Tulip something.
I have no clue. It was in August 1999.

A quick search on TA reveals the name “Golden Tulip.” Post from 14 years ago!
