Just following up... We arrived and the Hilton last night and, after checking my Hilton rewards and past visits, the front desk offered a complimentary upgrade. What a treat for our family of four! I will also say, since the Radisson sale, the rooms and property are certainly cleaner and better-maintained. We are very happy with our 4th visit! Thank you Hilton. 9k includes non-stop fmSun Country flight for four from MSP plus room and transportation. Did we pay too much?

    Hooray on the upgrade!!

YES you paid too much imo......(i am sorry)

here is a guesstimate on pricing:

air from MSP with a connection in Atlanta............$800 x 4 =$3200 (but probably less than $800 pp)
look into other air options connecting in Miami or in Ft Lauderdale or Charlotte.

timeshare rental.........2 bedroom @ Costa Linda or Playa Linda or Phoenix or Marriott Surf or Ocean for 1 week = in the $1800 to $2200 range OR a 1 bedroom at LaCabana with a flip out queen sleeper for $1100

Car rental.......a mid sized car for a week (hyundai accent or sonata) $ less than $400 depending on the size of the car.

not including food or activities you can do this trip for under $6000

have a blast and enjoy every moment.

next aruba trip, log on here before you do anything and hopefully we can help you save some serious $.

We stayed at the Hilton in February for 10 nights. Although I used points for the entire stay, when I booked the room (with the points) on Hiltons website, the cost of our room (if I were to pay vs points) was $679 USD per night, so, $6,790 USD for the entire stay, pretty steep price for sure. We were also upgraded upon arrival to a large 1 bedroom suite. I took a peek at what the suite would have cost on the Hilton website and it was almost $800 USD per night. No question about it, if I was paying vs using points, we would not have stayed at the Hilton resort. But free - sign me up.

I'm glad you got the upgrade and enjoy the stay. I've always found that Guy at MCM Tours has been exceptionally helpful with booking a cost effective trip for us.

Did you pay too much? Maybe, but it's the end result you have to look at. If you are satisfied with what you are getting for the money you've spent it seems like a win. I guess you are dependent on spring break times, but traveling to the island in the "low season" would probably yield a significant savings.
