Manchebo Questions

We’re looking forward to our May trip and staying at the Manchebo. Since it’s our first stay there I’m wondering about a couple of things:

What is the palapa situation? Do people go out early and reserve with towels, or are there plenty of palapas?

Do the restaurants require reservations? We’re taking a later flight and will arrive at Manchebo about 6:00 pm. It will also be our 36th anniversary so wondering if we will be able to wing it and grab a table at Ike’s or Chophouse.

Anyone try their spa?

I haven't stayed at Manchebo, but we get a couples massage there every May. The spa is fantastic. We usually book early morning and are done by 10:30, we ask them if we can have cards for towels and chairs and they always accommodate. Everytime we have been there at that late morning time, the beach is about half full (front row palapas taken, but plenty of others open). The couple of times we have been to the restaurants there, they have been very slow and although we had reservations I don't think we needed them. If you think you want to dine at Ikes for anniversary/arrival day, I'd make the reservation just in case (you can always cancel upon arrival). Enjoy!

Peg..... no problem with palapas any time of day..... Based on our June/July visits.... I really don't think you'll need reservations at Ike's or Chophouse for dinner around 7-8. You're gonna love this place.....!

Good to know about the palapas as every resort is different. When we went over to check out the beach it didn’t seem crowded. We’ll wing it on the restaurants, if they’re busy I guess we’ll get a pizza to go from Pizza Bob’s.

This trip can’t come soon enough and I am so looking forward to staying at the Manchebo.

I was was hoping they still had the fish pedicure but in looking at their brochure it looks like it is no longer offered. I’ve never done the spa thing, not even for a manicure; maybe this trip!

That’s true! We had a really nice lunch at Ricardo’s last trip. It may be time to revisit my dining list!!!

Okay, new question. I believe I saw that Manchebo offered room service? Has anyone taken advantage of it? The day we arrive is our 36th annniversary. We’re taking a later flight than usual and probably won’t get to Manchebo until around 6:00 pm. I was thinking it might be nice to relax and just have dinner in the room/balcony/patio. Your thoughts?

I've never had room service there, but have had breakfast on the balcony. They are pretty small. I don't know if you'd enjoy having dinner there.

Thank you for the feedback! I’ve only seen the balconies from the outside as we walked by.
