Just thought since we overlook this construction, I'd give an update.
1. I hate it.
2. Currently they have one tower crane(yes, I had to look that up) and working which seems like by remote control because I don't see any place for someone to sit. They started building two more over the weekend. They also have two mobile cranes.
3. They have poured the slab on our side and steel is going up. They have poured some of the slabs on the other side and are actively working on do more.
4.Steel-they were supposed to follow the set back rules. So many meters back you can build so high, so many more back, you can go higher, etc. Well, instead of being similar to what we have here and what was presented to us, they are now going 5 stories all the way to the front. Supposedly, the laws changed. I'm not going to go there.
5. More and more equipment keeps appearing. It isn't really noisy though. I guess over 30 years of teaching, I can block out most sounds.
6. Did I say I hate it?
Ughhhh Robin that is so tough to take. I hate it and I'm not looking at it !! Sorry really sorry for all of you at your beautiful Oceania.
Why can't the building at least stay within the accepted plan ....never satisfied $$$$$![]()
I hate it too Robin - and I hate it for you guys in the Palm's bldg - it's an eye sore for sure, it was nice having that open area if you are in the Palms bldg. at the Oceania. When I was at the Oceania in October and hanging out in the pool by the Palms bldg it was annoying hearing the construction going on. That's why I started going to the other 2 pools on the other side. It's unfortunate for sure.
Not following the setback height restrictions is really what I hate. I always knew a resort or condo could be built on the lot. The noise is something I can ignore. I kinda like watching construction. When whey put in a street and built homes on the adjacent property of our school, I had to close the blinds because I was worse than the kids watching it.
Some of our friends have moved over there and we have too to join them sometimes. I lived with construction noise the first 5 years in our house and for about 4 years next to my school. It doesn’t faze me except for the saw or drill that sounds like the dentist drill.
Sorry Robin and Stu. I know you have great views looking straight out from your condo balcony. Will this block your views on the side?
