I walked down as far as the Embassy Suites today. Peeked in the tunnel and it is painted and I could see some tile on a wall heading under the street. I really don't know why it is there-so you can walk along the path I guess.

They were working on a paver sidewalk outside of the property, landscaping inside, and building two small cinder block walls-maybe for showers(?). The areas of what I am guessing is their main pool looked to be fenced off. There were lots of workers, many standing around which started moving once guys in long slacks and polo shirts made their onto the property.

Their website says they are taking reservations for Feb. 1, so I guess they are moving along faster than they thought.

There is something going up between them and the Blue. It is outside of both walls. Condos, maybe? Does anyone know? I'll upload some pictures to my page I took later today.

I am by no means an engineer or a traffic safety consultant..
But Robin, do you think that the tunnel is a crazy idea?............I think it is just bonkers.

I cannot imagine it being "dry" and "safe"

Thanks for the update. From your place to the Embassy Suites is a nice walk.
    Any "smell updates?"

The tunnel is crazy, but I guess it is safer if you are crossing with kids since the road does curve. It would make more sense if their was a beach to go to. We used Embassy Suites when the kids and in some places, they are filled with families as I suspect this one will be.

I think it was a lot of money spent, for something that will become a problem. The tunnel reminds me of when they opened one of our high school buildings-it had two 2nd floor outside walkways connecting the wings with an enclosed stair tower in the center and it was used as a fire exit since there were no stairs at the end of the hallways. Just like the tunnel, the stair tower, is enclosed and disconnected. I am sure local kids or visiting kids will use it like the kids used the stair tower.

It seems like there is only an entrance onto the property at the ends from the street. There is a gate on the far end and I really didn't pay attention where the workers were walking-there may be a side entrance on the side closer to the Blue.

The smell was not bad today and I really haven't noticed it when I drive by. I have been in bathrooms that smell worse.

I thought it was a joke at first sending the tunnel under the road...but I guess it was no joke. Seems like a DUMB idea to me but what do I know. How about stairs and a bridge if they wanted a "safe" way to cross. SMH.
Trip 38 booked for Feb! Cant wait.

    The tunnel is handicap accessible.

I think I remember being told that they had to build a tunnel and a beach per the government, but you know how rumors are here. They did not build the beach.

Once it opens, I plan on checking out the hotel and report back.

I figure, I can say I just want to see it for future trips and as a Hiltons Honors member. . . etc. Plus, they are supposed to have restaurants.
