The infamous red sofa with no arms. I'll probably slide off of it when I try to watch TV. Wind Creek paid a small fortune to a design team in Atlanta for this. I think that they should demand their money back.

I was looking for my photo of the stand alone closet in the bedroom but must have deleted it. The unit was really ugly but it is a good storage solution. The couch didn’t look to bad but, of course, I haven’t sat on it yet!!

They actually eliminated the bedroom closet and put that storage unit in. There are LOTS of unhappy people about this whole situation. There's a lot that I haven't said on this forum because our owners association is still in "negotiations " with them about all of this.

I like quiet! :>) Still it would be nice to try but I think on a future trip I will book 2 nights there after my last day at the 7 day resort I stay at. Thx
I'm not sure when you are planning on going, but stay away from Memorial Day. There's a big festival on the island that weekend and Renaissance is one of hotels that is affiliated with the festival. Renaissance becomes party central that week.

My favorite resort is Costa Linda. We aren't staying there this year because the prices have almost doubled over the last few years, but it's much cheaper in May - November. You can rent directly from an owner through their website. I can give you that information if you want it.

They just finished a room renovation that didn't really need to be done, but they wanted their own style. Initially, they were going with a pink flamingo theme, but they received so much backlash that they toned it down to beige. Many owners are very upset with the renovation results. We are reserving judgement until we see it in a few weeks. The last time that we were there was in June, 2021. We were allowed to move our week from February, because we wanted to wait until we were vaccinated. The new owners own a lot of casinos, and market the hotel to a younger, hipper, crowd. It was totally different from what we were used to, and not in a good way. This crowd seemed like they were mainly there to party. There were lots of drunks around the pool, and a large group of drunks on the boat with us, returning from the private island. The music around the pool was deafening. We like to sit on the balcony, and that was impossible. We are hoping that this time will be more like it has been in the past.

The lagoon gets mucky with sea grass, but it was recently cleaned out. They just added a lot more palapas around the lagoon, and that's a nice place to sit. We usually go over to the island every other day. I'm only 5ft. 2, and the steps on the boat are pretty steep for me. I'm not sure if Miss Daisy could handle them. The island is nice, but it's fairly small. If you've been to Coco Cay or Labadee on a cruise, lower your expectations. It's nothing like that.

We enjoy our downtown week. We always stay on Eagle Beach for a week or two before moving to Renaissance. Most of our favorite restaurants are within walking distance, and we also like walking around the Marina area. If you have any questions, just message me, and I'll be happy to help.
Sounds like Marriott sold the Renaissance to new owners??? Wow wonder if this will be the case for all Renaissance properties. Coincidentally we were in MA this weekend and I wanted to stay at a Marriott Courtyard which we’ve stayed at years ago but was told all the Courtyards in MA were sold to Sonesta. Interesting. Marriott overextended themselves so maybe they are pushing back.

Marriott didn't own Renaissance. They have the management rights but not ownership, however, at one time Renaissance was owned by Sonesta. Most people believe that Marriott owns Renaissance, but apparently, they manage several hotel chains that they do not own.

That's very common. An investor group will own the physical property and contract with a major hotel brand, pay a fee (generally a percent of revenue) and the property will be marketed and operated as the hotel brand. It's becomes franchise propery and it's similar to what restaurants do with their franchise networks.

Yes CP. they had me fooled. I stayed at a Renaissance in Barcelona as well as a few other places and received Marriott points etc. I would never have known. Those properties are on my Marriott app. I like the vibe at the Renaissance properties.

Our first stay in Aruba was the Ren during Christmas week 2007 and it is where we fell in love with Aruba. We purchased a week there a few years later and sold it after purchasing the condo. We do stay at the adult side for Carnival. I like the locations because there are so many great restaurants that are in walking distance including the ones at the Marketplace. I don't care for the new room decor in the suites.
