Thanks Tracey. I was looking at Tradewinds this evening, as well as the Hyatt. I know I shouldn’t let the Ritz’s lack of response get to me, but when you look at what you’re paying and they can’t be bothered to respond within a reasonable time it does give you pause. We’re only booked for 3 nights so I may still keep the reservation, time will tell.

I got an email from the Ritz today in which they apologized for the delay saying the first email didn’t go through. I will say it was very detailed. So if anyone is interested, here are the May rates (per day):

Beach Cabana; $389; 15% service charge and 6% tax. (Includes fridge, soda, water, snacks, fruit and personal concierge)

Pool Cabana; $239 15% service charge and 6% tax ( same amenities as beach)

Biminis; $199, 15% service charge, 6% tax (includes bucket of ice and water bottles)

I can hear Andrea saying Yikes!

It is a lot of money BUT, just maybe could justify doing it on our 2nd day there as it will be our 37th anniversary. Tom, rolls his eyes and says do what you want. I told him well, it’s also your 5 year post transplant anniversary!? His response, “Oh no, don’t use me for an excuse”! So... I don’t know, will just have to think about it.

hahahahaha I can see the eye roll now!

when the husband says "do what you want".....it really means "do what you want"
when the wife says "do what you want"......well, that is a dare, a challenge and is not good.

is your ritz stay "pre Manchebo?"

Yes, pre-Manchebo. Not sure why I decided to book that way but guess I figured if we didn’t love the Ritz we had Manchebo to look forward to.

I'm different from Tom.... yup, the eye roll is the same and important...… but I say, "Whatever makes you happy." Then I try to figure how to rearrange funds to cover it!

Peg - I say go for it if you think it will enhance your trip and it fits your budget. We did a cabana on a cruise beach day and it is probably one of our favorite vacation days we've had together.

Peg, while we didn't even consider a cabana during our stay, we did spend all day on the beach on loungers under an umbrella. Included with room cost, beach attendants set you up and check on you throughout the day. As for the "amenities", complimentary sunscreen is provided as well as ice water and the guys come by with cold towels, frozen ice pops and other really welcome items through the day to make your stay so much more enjoyable. And ordering a drink or food from one of Segway riders is something not to be missed. With all that you guys have to celebrate, a stay at the Ritz is a must. And let them know before you get there you are celebrating a special occasion, you can thank me when Pam and I see you in May
