I agree about the caribbean feel....although at least it's an updated version of the "old" fashioned feel of other Ritz Carltons..We were at a training session for work recently and it was held at a Ritz...old fashioned chandeliers/lights, outdated dark dark wood EVERYWHERE.. even though it was very elegant, is was not my cup of tea at all....now I do agree with you, I would stay in a heartbeat if someone paid for me, but I would never waste the money to stay there on my own dime...
So, if anyone has money they do not know what to do with, let Andrea and I know and we will gladly let you put us up in a luxurious room for a week or two !!!!!

    sounds good!

i love the old fashioned chandeliers and the dark wood and ornate stuff... just not in aruba.
the lobby of the Ritz almost has a naked feel.

the rooms and the grounds are beautiful AND the casino is terrific.
    (good drinks)

We plan to try the casino as I hear it’s much less smoky. While we had planned on trying BLT it just didn’t look like it would have the atmosphere we were looking for; Plus I figured we can always try the one in Vegas next time we’re there.

It is a pretty place. Is it odd that I see the staircase & think of Jay's vow renewal?

We stayed at the Ritz for a couple of nights last year. It certainly isn't a grand old Ritz property a la New Orleans, but it is clean and modern and the staff is top notch. And cocktails delivered by Segway is beach service at a new level. It was a nice experience but we would never stay there paying cash, we used Marriott points (a lot of them). I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The Ritz is beyond special to us- the staircase is something that brings back great memories every time I see them as well. The employees at the Ritz have made staying there incredible during all of our trips, and many of them are now CLOSE friends. That said, with us going 4 or 5 times a year we will be staying elsewhere on a few of those trips each year so I can continue to visit the island I love as much as possible without spending CJs college fund, lol.
