today was our last port of call and it was raining.
Paul and I hung with another couple under an umbrella at the aft deck pool and played cards for most of the morning.

this ship is really nice, the food has been great and the service outstanding.

Paul and I both are coming down with colds and are chugging NyQuil at night and robitussin and echinacea during the day.

yesterday, one of the bars showed the full funeral of GHW Bush on the large screen tv..........we spent a few hours there watching AND playing cards.

tomorrow is our last day, it is a sea day.
we hope to be poolside all day.

internet has been slower than dial up.

We cruised the Western Carribean route in mid November a few years ago. The weather started off great but became very rainy the farther down we went. When we got to Roatan, we learned that the kids are out of school at this time every year because it's the rainy season. I've heard that the Breeze is a beautiful ship.

Thanks for the updates on your trip. It sounds like you had a good time. I don't think I have ever been on a ship with decent internet. Feel better.

    we are home !
cats fine and belle did well at the kennel with the exception that she stunk like wet dog.
she had a wonderful soak in the hot tub at home and then a nice bath using aruba aloe shower gel.
(now the hot tub is in the process of draining and will get a good month scrubbing)

    the cruise was good.
I hesitate to say the word great because.....well it was a cruise and I do not like to cruise.
however it was good......real smooth sailing and the acupressure bands worked so I did not have to take bonine.
the ports of call were ...meh.
we got off at 2 ports and the 3rd we stayed on playing cards under an umbrella in the drizzle.

our off ship purchases included kahlua, malibu rum and pretty gold hoop earrings (small, the size of a dime).
our on ship purchases included halls cough drops....pack of 24 for $11, and some gorilla glue 1/2 oz for $12. (part of the sole of my sneaker became unattached and was causing me to trip. I am still bellyaching about the cost of cough drops and glue.

the carnival breeze is a LOVELY ship and everything is quite pretty.
there were FEW kids and those FEW were taken care of by caring parents.........except one.
that one, became ours and 2 other couples kid for the week.
we watched her in the pool, taught her some basic swim skills, ate ice cream with her and taught her how to play crowns, dirty marbles and rummy 500.
her parents were imbeciles who had no parenting skills and were busy on their iPhones ignoring the child.

at night, she wandered the ship while parents were in the casino or at the comedy club so she joined us in the red frog pub drinking virgin Pina coladas and skunking us as cards.

    btw, she is 7.

I did speak with her parents numerous time and they were fine with Paul and I entertaining her.
other folks spoke with security about the child and the stupid parents.
I did speak with guest services and reported them as neglectful when we saw the kid walking the public areas at 10pm unaccompanied.
we walked her back to her cabin one evening and she showed us her "elevator trick".
we got into the elevator on #12 and she pushed EVERY button.
    some trick! omg.
we explained just how much that angers folks.
I think her parents taught her that.

we brought our head colds home and are laying low.
each up 2 lbs which I guess is a gift.
I think that the 20000 steps per day per Fitbit helped it stay at only up 2.
    I was expecting more.
(I had pizza for breakfast 4 times)

now back to reality and prepping for the grandchildren next Sunday and their week at house of mouse and a few days here.

Glad you had a good cruise. I guess you didn’t get off to see the sloth farm? That would have been high up on my list, not Tom’s though. As for taking care of someone else’s 7 year old; you are very good people! I suppose at least she will grow up to be independent. I don’t know what’s wrong with SOME parents and can’t imagine allowing a child to wander the ship. It’s sad really.

Feel better. We’ve also been struggling with colds since we got back from Vegas. I told Tom, no more Vegas for me it’s just not worth it.

Keep warm at home and get over the colds in time for the grandkids visit!!

Thank you for sharing your cruise! We have never cruised...so I enjoyed reading your live trip report. You were very kind to keep a watchful eye on that young girl. The danger she could have encountered otherwise....frightful

Glad you liked the Breeze.. I honestly can say I do think Carnival is better the Royal Caribbean.
Hope you both are feeling better soon

SMH at those parents, although it doesn't surprise me after what I've seen in my school. They should be reported to child services for neglect. So much could go wrong on a ship, or anywhere else. I wonder why she was not in the program most ships have for kids. It was so very kind of the two of you to take her under your wing.

I'm glad your pets were in good shape and I hope you feel better before the grandkids get there.

I alike "house of the mouse". We had a friend (and now hubby) who called it "a people trap run by a mouse"
