Our niece who lives in Canada flew to Cuba earlier this year and loved it. It is still difficult for people there to get some basic personal care products. They do need the tourism. I do not totally believe the reasoning behind the president's motives.

Just got notice from Norwegian Cruise line. It's working out in my favor...:>)
Sailings beyond September 2, 2019 will be automatically cancelled and refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. Guests impacted by these cancellations are offered a 20% discount off current cruise fares on any new voyages booked by August 5, 2019 for sailings no later than December 31, 2020.

They will cancel my cruise, refund and give me a 20% discount on any future cruise that I book. I might go back to Bermuda. It's an easy cruise for me from NY plus Norwegian has another brand new ship with the studios for single travelers at a discount plus the 20%.

    that sounds excellent.

I always thought that it was unfair that a single person was penalized.
I understand the reasoning and wherefore, but I believe unfair.

so.............our cruise to Cuba cancelled. it was about $1000 a piece. we received full refunds.

apparently the ship (Carnival Paradise) has lost numerous passengers to cancellation because of the elimination of Cuba off of the itinerary.

Carnival cruise specialist (our agent) called us earlier and they are now booking the partially empty ships for real little $.
he booked us on the same ship, Carnival Paradise, for a 5 night cruise to Grand Cayman ( ) and Cozumel Mexico (yuk)
the cruise cost..........$50 p p plus port taxes of $99.52 pp = $299.04 total for the 2 of us. an ocean view cabin, empress deck, mid ship. and a $100 each onboard credit

so, if anyone is looking to book an inexpensive getaway, see if you can hook up on a cruise that was originally slated to go to Cuba.
there are some bargains to be had out there.
