I felt the same way as you; wanting to get a booster sooner rather than later but after listening to all the reports my view has changed somewhat. It sounds like the effectiveness starts to wane at the 8 month mark so that’s when you would get the most benefit of a booster. Plus the decrease is gradual. So, at the moment, I am at least telling myself that!

after speaking to our PA she told us to wait for at least the 7 month mark..........which will be late Sept.
plus I had my 2nd dose of shingles vaccine at the end of July and she said that there should be 4+ weeks between that and any other vaccine.

so will reschedule for late Sept.

We got a generic email from Mass General saying to notify them if Tom had received the additional shot. So I messaged them and now they want him to repeat his labs two additional times. Normally, he just gets them every three months. Found it strange as he didn’t have to repeat labs when he got the first two shots. I think he’s feeling a bit like a guinea pig.

I just booked our Pfizer boosters for 9/28. We’ll be almost 7 months since we were considered fully vaccinated. We’re both of a certain age and 2 of my husbands doctors told him to get it. The hospital where we got our vaccines had quite a few openings. So much easier than the last time around when it took me almost 5 weeks to get an appt. time. Hopefully a “boost” will give us some extra protection.

I just signed up to get my booster tomorrow. It is just 5 months, but they let me sign up. We are headed to France on Tuesday.

    that's good Robin.
hope that your trip is wonderful.

we got our boosters 11 days ago.
that night both Paul and I had headaches and very annoying overall body aches.
I could not stand the discomfort and went out to our hot tub (not very hot, 97 degrees) and sat there with the jets til I was sufficiently beaten up.
but the following morning all was well.

our 2nd shot was in mid February so we were at 7 months out.

we also got our flu shots too same time as the booster.

my pneumonia shot is Oct 15. I believe that is a series of 2 ?

Andrea, did you guys mix shots? I thought I remembered that you had gotten the Moderna initially? Doctors are saying that it is probably okay to mix them, so I’m just curious. Tom got his booster in August but all his shots were Pfizer.

    we got a Moderna booster.
the pharmacist called it shot 3 not a booster.

our dr and p.a. said if you can get it, get it.
we went to publix for our flu shots, mentioned we wanted a covid booster sometime and pharmacist said OK let's do it.
so, although the cdc has not made a recommendation yet for moderna, we are set.

Thanks! Tom was asking me if I was going to go for the booster but I don’t think I want to mix the shots.

I had my flu shot about 10 days ago, both pneumonia shots before Covid and the 1st shingles shot last fall and 2nd one in May.
