Well its a bitter sweet situation that will require us to cancel our Feb and possibly April trips. Today we came to an agreement to purchase a 3br lakefront condo on the lake my wife grew up on. We had owned previously, last was a 1br that I did not enjoy on the 1st floor. This one we don't have anyone above us...I will miss my trips to Aruba but they are going to be once a year at best for a bit.
That's mixed news.... congratulations on the condo...! Dunno if you'll survive having only 'occasional' trips to Aruba.....!

Haha, you might be right. I want to pay off all my condo fees and taxes for the year at once...then worry about the extra mortgage payment. We still have April booked but I am leaning towards canceling that one as well. That will pay for a good portion of of yearly expenses...or at least make the rest not painful.

As everyone says Aruba will always be waiting for you. You are making an investment that also makes a lot of sense for your future. Sounds very exciting! Congrats!!!
Thanks to all of you! It certainly wont be the same but its something I think we will enjoy as we approach retirement. Buying in Aruba is a dream...and will remain that, at least least for now and probably forever. That said we are thrilled with what is ahead of us.
Congrats! I'm sure traveling to the condo will be easier and more frequent than traveling to Aruba.
I want to grow my own food, but I can't find any bacon seeds...
