glad to read that David and friend are OK!
I hope that your friend (the anti masker) gets well soon.

why do folks insist on being so selfish about non mask wearing?
are they making a political statement?

my opinion is that those anti maskers are just arrogant rule breakers making a statement of their superiority to the virus and in defiance of doing the right thing to protect all
    .
this is no different than "wearing seat belts" in a car or plane.

people should just do the right thing.

Our friend who has it is a nice guy, but had many FB post about anti masks, the numbers of Covid patients isn't that bad, etc. Now he has it. I just hope he will be okay and let people know it is no joke.

    Virginia started "mandatory" masks today...

    Masks are required:

    • Everyone ages 10 and up
    • Inside all brick and mortar retail establishments. Both essential and non-essential stores, including grocery stores and pharmacies
    • Inside all personal care & grooming establishments
    • Any indoor space shared by groups of people who may congregate within 6 feet of one another or who are in close proximity to each other for more than 10 minutes
    • Inside food & beverage establishments, except when eating
    • On public transportation
    • State and local government buildings and areas where the public accesses services
    • Entertainment or public amusement establishments, when permitted to open

There are some exceptions to this requirement. Masks are not required:

    • For children younger than 2 years old
    • While eating or drinking
    • While exercising
    • If you have trouble breathing or are unable to remove the mask without help
    • If your health conditions prohibit wearing a face covering
    • If you’re communicating with a hearing-impaired person, needing your mouth to be visible

While everyone 10 and older is required to wear a mask, the governor is strongly encouraging everyone older than 2 years old to wear a face covering.
Enforcement of these requirements will be done through the Virginia Department of Health, rather than law enforcement agencies.

I don't get it either. Some say, "my body, my choice" but don't understand that by wearing a mask they are protecting others or just are simply selfish and don't care. They choose not to understand the health risk and tend to think that the virus is not as bad as it is, they seem to think that all the numbers are false and it is a political move to oust the current president. They think their rights are being taken away, but yet, I bet none of them complain about "no shirt, no shoes, no service" and want clean and safe restrooms, gyms, stores, restaurants, etc. Some of the things I've seen on social media just boggle the mind.

Massachusetts Governor announced a restaurant reopening plan today. With a tentative June 8th opening, restaurants will be able to offer outside dining only. No condiments on the table, single use condiments will be provided. Disposable utensils or sterilized after each use; no sitting at the bar although seating can be arranged in the bar area with tables six feet apart. Reservations and an electronic contactless ordering system encouraged and of course, all servers need to wear masks. Indoor dining could be allowed with restrictions later in Phase 2.

It’s going to be a change and we will miss the socializing at the bar. We’ll go and support our local spot though. Tom has gotten used to all the home cooked meals but I’m looking forward to someone else cooking.

I contacted the hair salon again and she booked me for June 30th. I definitely see myself giving the scissors a try before then. Will be watching Hair Cut Night in America tonight. Anyone else watching?

David's work partner's second test was negative, too, but he still is not back to work.

NJ will be opening non essential business and outside dinning June 15. Hair salons on June 22. Possibly gyms soon after and rumors of casinos on July 4. Traditional High School graduations can be held after July 6(however; it would be difficult for large districts to have one ceremony for 600+ kids). I called to get on the list for a color, highlights, and cut-I haven't had a haircut since November. I have about $200 worth of stuff to return to Kohls once they reopen and $15 in Rewards to spend. Doubt we will be dining out anytime soon, though.

I went to my primary care doctor yesterday out of necessity(I found a lump under my arm on Friday night that he said is an infected hair follicle and gave me antibiotics-I was so scared it was something more). Their procedure is go in, sign in, give them the cards, pay and go right into a room. I only saw one other patient coming in as I was going to check out. One of the doctors in the practice is the infectious disease specialist in this area, so their office has been on the frontlines of the Covid more than some other doctors. He said it has been a difficult three months. There are about 60 patients currently in our local hospital, but those on vents are there for a long time, so the numbers are a bit deceiving. He said they are learning as they go along. It is difficult because it has only been 3 months. I asked about a vaccine and he said, he thought it would be quite a while before we see one. He couldn't comment on effectiveness or safety because they just don't know enough about how this virus will react or behave.

So good to hear that David’s partner got a second negative. I’m sure that puts your mind to rest a bit. Also good news that your lump was just an infected hair follicle. I had that issue a few years back. The cream they gave me cleared it up but it took awhile.

We rescheduled all doctor appointments until September. Not sure what’s happening with my dentist as the office is still closed. Tom also has labs scheduled for next week. He’s not thrilled about going but I told him if it’s too busy, don’t go in.

Tonight there is a protest scheduled to start at 5:00 here in Quincy. A local woman coordinated it to support the Black Lives Matter group. With all that has been going on across the country, I am praying that it will be a peaceful protest. I support the rights of this group to protest and I believe that our local crowd is a peaceful group. My fear is that outside people will use it for an opportunity to disrupt.

Selfishly, I worry about large crowds of people gathering and risking the progress we have made in containing the virus.

Robin I am very happy to hear the great news about David and very relieved that the issue was "only" an infection, must have been really scary- sorry.

Thanks. I wanted to go to my breast doctor or gyn in Philadelphia rather than my local doctor because I was that worried, however; both are located in Center City and that is not a safe area to be in these past few days(actually the area has been shut down and reopened and shut down a few times) because of the rioting and looting. Stu kept saying just go to the local doctor. I guess I am glad I had no choice.
