After much deliberation, research, testimony from others and more discussion, we've booked our 30th anniv trip to Grand Cayman. Anyone with tips or restaurant suggestions please post or message me.

The reason for the change is that we want this trip to be special. Aruba has always been our special place, but it has become very "familiar". After our last trip, I really thought we'd be in Aruba for our anniversary 2019, but we've changed the destination for a couple reasons. The big one is that we wanted something new that we can explore and discover new things together. Grand Cayman also seems to have more condo rentals right on the beach and people have told us it's a quieter island. As we've gotten older we've realized we like having a roomier condo where we can be lazy making our own breakfast, make our own sandwiches to take to the beach and have a well stocked bar of our own. That saves some money not eating out every meal. Then we splurge on eating dinners out.

I'm excited to go to a new destination, but feel like we're "cheating" on Aruba. LOL

Friends of ours highly recommend the Villas of the Galleon in Grand Cayman for both the accommodations and the location. We always say that will be our next spot, but we always go back to Aruba. I like you idea of doing something different and new for a big anniversary.

Love to hear about your trip compared to Aruba when you get back. We have been to many islands and Aruba still calls back year after year.

I will try to remember to post a "non Aruba" trip report here.

We were in Grand Cayman about 8-9 years ago over Christmas break. It is very nice. We loved it there and drove all over the island. If you rent a car remember they drive on the wrong side of the road and don't lose a hubcap-they'll charge you for all 4(luckily a woman at the resort told us she saw our hubcap on her walk and we retrieved it). There are lots of good restaurants. I hope you like chickens and roosters-they roam freely around the island.

We are going to Turks and Caicos for our 29th anniversary this December 14-21(our anniversary is the 16th). We looked at Grand Turks but didn't want to be isolated.
