    Lisa's Printer Adventure

On a much lighter note than my previous posts today (and thanks again to you all for your support), something good has come out of this whole needing to pre-test and get that priceless green checkmark: I don't use my laptop at home that much (i spend most of my waking hours in the office and my Fire tablet is my "go to" device at home). But since I have to test on a Saturday for a Tuesday departure, I don't want to have to run up to my office when the results come in order to print the lab report and ED info for travel). So I broke down and bought a color printer for home. I don't have much room so I found a great little HP printer on amazon for under $100 (I also saw no need to spend a lot of money since I won't use it much). It's an HP DeskJet 3755. Very compact and is even the colors of the the water in Aruba (which didn't hurt my decision! LOL!). So I bit the bullet and ordered it last week. It arrived in two days thanks to Prime and I couldn't believe how small and slim it is. It came with two cartridges that aren't full size but really just intended to get you started. Could hardly wait to get it home to set up! Re-arranged my home desk...followed the directions...it lit up!...I downloaded the software and driver...success!...Lisa's excited, especially since she's technically challenged (and I'm being kind to myself!)...had some trouble getting the cartridges in but kind of looked okay...go to do a test print........nothing....says the print cartridges aren't installed correctly...okay, tried that again...zero, nada, kaput...display doesn't show the cartridges have ink...has to be operator error...turned the darn thing off in frustration to be tried again another day. So it's another day...try again...same result. Now Lisa is getting ready to either throw the thing against the wall or pack it up and ship the sucker back to good old amazon. No, I've come this far, I'll wait until the weekend. So, to make what's already a long story a bit shorter, I was apparently being too gentle in shoving those cartridges in. Finally got the stupid things to click into place. Success, right? Wrong! The stupid display still shows the cartridges are empty! Lisa is now tired and fed up. So off I trudge to Staples (good thing there's one only a mile away!). Bought the cartridges at a pretty ridiculous price (won't be buying official HP cartridges again that's for sure!), shoved them in the now-hated but still pretty printer and....bingo! Those displays filled right up and a beautiful full color test page came popping out!
So amazon, maybe when you send one to the next person, you could include two cartridges that are either full of ink or not dried out? Just sayin'...

Frustrating story.... yup, printers are cheap.... but they do get you on the cartridges... always and anyplace! Seems like you're one step closer to printing that beloved green check mark for your Aruba trip!

What a pain in the neck.
The whole thing is so very familiar and did make me smile thinking “ well it is not only me with printer and ink issues”

Throwing it against the wall might have helped too.

It's too cute to throw, Andrea! I banged a couple of pillows against my head instead!

printer and ink and toner cartridges are not your friends!
years ago, I was in my office and my printer needed ink cartridges.
I asked the office mgr for the cartridges and she gave them to me.
then she proceeded to gather lots of the kids so they could all watch me install........but they all wanted to watch and listen to me curse and be frustrated.
right before I retired, someone announced over the PA system that Andrea was loading up her printer for the last time in her career.........come and watch and cheer her on.
oh, the words that came outta my mouth!!

have any of you used the epson eco tank printer?
I currently have about $200 in my amazon rewards and thinking of using that $ towards the price of the printer.
    and then I hesitate

Years ago(the boys were still in school) I had an ink cartridge that was defective-it leaked ink through the printer and all over the desk. What a huge mess. After cleaning it up, I had to go buy a new printer and they weren't as cheap then as they are now.

I’ve been thinking about the Epson eco tank as well. My printer is more than ten years old. The cartridges can be a pain and an expense. The thing is I don’t really need to use it often. About the only thing I print are recipes or travel confirmations and we know I haven’t had any of those lately! If you buy it let me know how you like it.

    will let you know!

I miss the days where I could print everything at work and throw the office manager some $ to cover the costs.
much easier to pay than to buy and maintain.

I always printed out stuff at the office before I retired. Would never have thought to offer to pay!
