Our plans include sitting on our patio with a couple of friends and some snacks.... and when the clock strikes 9, we shoo them home and we move indoors only to fall asleep b4 the ball drops.
Ahhhh, such excitement.

Early dinner out with Patti.... and then home early! If I'm up at midnight it's just to go pee! (can I say that)?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!
We're in Nashville. Most of the places are already sold out, so we plan on going to the "Big Bash". If we can stay long enough, we'll watch the music note drop. Weather looks to be a problem, so if the severe storms they are predicting show up, we'll just watch it all on CBS in the hotel room. Hopefully the weather will hold, and we'll get to see Zac Brown Band and a few others.
Staying in. I’m making a bunch of appetizers; smoked cheddar crackers (shaped like stars); sweet pink shrimp; clam stuffed mushrooms; little smokies with mustard dip and an assortment of cheese and olives. It’s just the two of us so guess there will be leftovers!
A quiet celebration here in Jersey, just the 2 of us. Dinner will be a pork loin, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy. We had this growing up on Christmas Day since my mother’s side was German. Well, Ancestry has revealed I’m only 8% German and a lot more English ( my Dad’s side ). Ancestry has been a good distraction during the pandemic. Back on topic, one of our local stations does a Honeymooner’s marathon on NYE. Hope we can stay awake! Hope 2022 will be a better year!
The couple who celebrate with us every year are not coming because the husband tested positive for Covid. We decided to keep it at home just the two of us. I have a veal chop defrosting on the counter, and plan to serve it with sautéed mushrooms and shallots over polenta. Already washed the endive and radicchio for a side salad.
Martinis at 4 pm with shrimp cocktail and a domestic caviar that’s a lot less expensive then the real thing. I figure if the caviar is a bust the martinis will make up for it.
we’ll be asleep by 10 for sure.
‘Tomorrow we’re driving up to Mohegan Sun casino resort in Connecticut. We’ve stayed there a few times and are beyond impressed with their Covid protocols and enhanced ongoing cleaning and sanitizing procedures. We’ll check in, play the slots, have reservations at their Italian restaurant Ballo, then slots again (if we’re still within budget) and bed. The drive is about 2 hours so will be home early on Sunday.
Whatever your plans are for tonight, ‘Happy New Year to all! Let’s hope for a Covid free 2022![]()
