Peg, I don't know if I totally buy it but I heard that they were already booked up on the weekends for the foreseeable future. As for price, I heard what you heard, which is ridiculous in my opinion.

I've tried to take a gambling break and thankfully I don't see myself being enticed by this place.

Considering it’s in Everett, MA and not especially convenient to Boston tourist spots, it seems like gouging. It makes more sense for us to just drive over for the day.

Congratulations on you win! I haven't had a good day like that in a long while, which is why I'm taking a gambling break! It's no fun to lose every time.

If you are every in the area, it's a nice place to get a good meal and enjoy the view of the brown Potomac River. We had some great food at an Oyster Bar and then decided to hit the MGM casino. I don't really like the MGM - the table minimums are high and the slots we like to play with bonuses have high max bets. I was planning on placing derby bets there, but did it online instead so the stop at MGM was no longer needed, but hey while we are here...LOL.

We started off with Jon getting a few small hits on Wheel of Fortune Machines. I wanted to play the Top Dollar machine, it's a bonus style slot. With my first $20 I was up to $200 so I decided to keep going until I got a bonus or got down to $150. I hit the top dollar bonus and won $1000! That never happens to me! I usually give up on slots pretty quickly and go play roulette where I feel like my money lasts longer. We took the money and ran! We ended up watching the Derby at home. I gave my mom her choice of Derby bets as her Mother's Day gift and I was really hoping she would hit on something. My day of winning wasn't over. I give myself $50 total to bet during the season of the Triple Crown races. I place a series of small bets. Yesterday I just never got a good feeling and about an hour before the race I decided to throw a few $2 bets on a couple long shots to win, place, or show. Well after the disqualification (which I thought was harsh and did not really impact the outcome of the race), but anyway it worked out in my favor. A $6 total bet ended with me winning another $213 for the day. All in yesterday was the best gambling day of my life, so I thought you casino fans here may enjoy the story.

I have a red card with Wynn Las Vegas so when the online reservation system went live I was able to go on and check prices for Boston-encore. The cheapest room was $650 pn plus resort fee which is usually in the $50 per night range. It wasn’t worth it to me. We can easily drive there as we live just south of Boston but we’ll wait until the novelty wears off

We thought the same about the novelty of MGM, but the prices per night are still outrageous and the table minimums can get ridiculous at the times we are able to go. They have been open about 2 years now.

That’s crazy! I would have assumed the prices would have gone down after 2 years but if people are willing to pay it I guess that’s just how it is. We have casinos about an hour away in CT that are reasonable, under $200 for a week day but Encore is nonsmoking so it was more appealing to us. Between Aruba and Vegas trips I guess I don’t need more side trips anyhow!

That's the good thing about Maryland, all non smoking.

I came back to this thread because I just got an email offer from Encore Boston Harbor, offering a rate of $581 with a $150 food and beverage credit. They must of heard about all I was losing in the Aruba casinos.
