As far as returning to normal, we are not required to wear masks but most people still are. We went to 2 casinos this weekend and only a small percentage of people were unmasked, and same with our local grocery store. My dad and other family members who live in more rural areas say they rarely see masks anymore.

We had a large family gathering for my grandma's birthday and it was great to all be together again.

My brother and sister in law gave us gender reveal "cannons" for Christmas. They knew they were having a boy, and let us, my mom, and nephew find out with the blue powder. I enjoyed it. I agree the parties can get out of hand sometimes, but it was special for them to let us have that moment.
The best trip is the next trip. Anxiously waiting to book something.

yes, some really can. Most of the ones I've seen lately are simple and just the immediate family. The baseball one seems to be popular and are cakes/cupcakes.

Robin - since you are a "car person", you might be interested to know that there are "gender reveal" tires. The car does a burnout and the smoke that comes out is either pink or blue. My husband has done several photo shoots of those and it's a neat effect. However, I gotta also agree that some of the gender reveal stuff does get out of hand...

They ARE ridiculous...but we had to go. This was my great niece and we are a small family.

I, personally, wanted to be surprised. Of course, back when my kids were born, you didn't find out the gender unless there was a problem.

I don't know how they come up with these things.

I agree. I had two children successfully without a gender reveal of any kind other than "hey look, this baby can count to twenty one instead of twenty".

We had the option of finding out with our first one, but wanted to be surprised. We did find out what our second one would be because I had my bedroom set and we needed to know if we had to sell it or if we just had to buy a matching crib. Besides, I had so many ultrasounds with him that we could read them ourselves.

Do gender reveals even matter anymore? It seems like everyone under the age of thirty is "non-binary" now. <- typing that makes me old.

Baby steps for us. We just recently starting getting take outs! Today we decided to go out for lunch. For the first time in months we sat at a bar, had a nice lunch and played keno. It felt good!! Since our favorite spot didn’t survive the pandemic, we opted for a small place at the marina. Parking is always a nightmare as everything is reserved for boat owners but we lucked out with a spot in front of the restaurant. I think if we go back and go early it could work for us.

Today we had our retirees group breakfast. This is the first time I've seen everybody(other than those I run into occasionally) since Oct or Nov of 2019. Everyone I sat with is vaccinated.
