Today we cancelled our trip to Europe for this summer. Our travel agent was able to cancel and get a refund from the hotels(waiting to hear from one hotel) and tours. Currently Viking has cancelled all their river cruises through the end of June and has given those who were scheduled $125% credit or refund. We are waiting to see if they cancel July's cruises. If they don't and we cancel, then we get a refund minus $100 cancellation fee per person that can be used toward another cruise. We are going to wait to see what they do. Our agent feels that they will be cancelling because much of Europe is still closed and even though they are looking to slowly reopen, they are not looking at opening to tourist any time soon. We do plan on going next year as long as it is safe.

We had a trip scheduled in June for Quebec City, Montreal , side trip to York, Maine and then the Canadian Maritimes.
Then fly home from Nova Scotia.
It was going to be 25 days.
Now cancelled.
We are very disappointed.

New plan is renting a beach house in the Keys (Islamorada)

Hi Robin,

We cancelled our trip to Maui. Originally scheduled for April 22-May 19, 2020 we had to cancel when the border between Canada and the U.S. was (and still is) closed to all non-essential traffic. We have re-booked the condo for the same time next year. The company which rents out the condo was really good and just moved our vacation to the new dates.

We were going there on loyalty points with WestJet and are in the process of getting those back, along with the various fees (seat selection) and taxes associated with it. It involves submitting a claim with ManuLife and making sure we send every piece of supporting documentation we can get our hands on.

Our Aruba trip for this coming October is still a go, as far as we know.

My wife and her girlfriend head down to the US for a three-day shopping trip every September. Hopefully the border will have been re-opened by then and they can still go. When you do everything together, that little three day break is great for both of us.

My brother bought an antique Mercedes on line in NJ and was going to fly out from Seattle at the end of April and we were gonna take a road trip getting the car back to the Pacific NW..... so disappointed that's not gonna happen.

Our April vacation was canceled because of Covid....our possible summer trip so CJ could go to soccer camp in Aruba is no longer a consideration. We have a 10 day plus vacation planed for Canandaigua when we close on our townhouse....but that may very well get canceled as well if they don't open the beach/boat launches.

We were going to a wedding in Washington State but flying into Portland since its closer to the venue and then fly to Vegas. They haven't cancelled the wedding yet but we cancelled the whole trip. Used miles from Newark to Portland and Vegas back to Newark. But since United had no non-stop to Vegas from Portland we booked Alaska Air. United refunded back our miles and any costs, hotels refunded but Alaska Air will not refund, flight was $137 one way from Portland to Vegas each, cancellation fee is $125 and they didn't offer a voucher or anything. We will try again but if not, we will keep the flight, check in 24 hours before and not show up so they can't rebook our seats.

We have a long weekend planned for Memorial Day in Ocean City, Maryland. As of now the Maryland order to close hotels to non essential travelers is supposed to end April 30th. We have until mid May to cancel. If masks are still required in public and restaurants are still closed, we won't go. The governor of Maryland gives the impression that he will not take any chances, so we are not hopeful.
We have a long weekend planned in Virginia beach for the 4th of July booked on Hilton points. I am more optimistic for that one than Jon is. He doesnt think it will happen. We are also looking at a fall trip to New Orleans, but nothing has been booked. If all of the above are cancelled,we are considering adding a full 2nd week to Aruba in November. I refuse to acknowledge the possibility that Aruba may be canceled.

Andrea, Thanks for making a new thread. I didn't think of it.

I am really okay with postponing the trip. We will plan on going next year and will rebook the Viking part as soon as we cancel this part-the travel agent really wants us to wait because of the possible 125% credit which is would amount to over $1100.

Trip I am really sad to miss is the road trip out to see our Paul and his gf Ana. We were supposed to go the beginning of June. We haven't seen them since Thanksgiving and we have not been to their place in Evanston. I so much just want to hug them. We also were going to into Canada and see a friends from Oceania and see my SIL-they live about 15 minutes from each other, then drive through Canada to visit other friends from Oceania, go through Detroit and visit some friends there, and then to the kids for a few days. On the way home Stu was going to a client and we were going to our friends who use to live two doors down-both their daughters are getting married in September and I hope they won't be virtual weddings.

Other things we had planned were: Stu was going to see clients in the Northern Virginia/DC area in May, so that would have been a few days down there. He has a conference in Chicago the beginning of August and we were looking forward to seeing the kids again and possibly looking up friends from college I haven't seen in years. Maybe we will get to go to that and just spend the time with the kids as we usually don't attend much of the conference anymore if we even go-we skip them sometimes because we already have something planned.

That would have been fun. We have done several road trips in Stu's classic car and did go to the West Coast in it. We had a blast even though we had more mechanical issues than we thought we would have along the way. Is he having it shipped instead?

I had a short trip to Toronto planned over Easter. I currently have flight credit for those flights via United. I also intended to take a trip over Memorial Day weekend (I was looking at the Bahamas) but that's not happening either.
